Fellow Freepers,
Here is the quote from Donald Trump regarding Planned Parenthood tonight.
"But millions and millions of women, cervical cancer, breast cancer, are helped by Planned Parenthood. So you can say whatever you want but they have millions of women going through Planned Parenthood that are helped greatly."
Questions for discussion: How is this not an endorsement of Planned Parenthood? In your opinion, should we support a candidate who endorses Planned Parenthood in any way, even performing non-abortive services?
Support him or live with the war on women tag another election cycle. He is correct it does prescreen and help but don’t fund abortion side.
You know what they say, you don’t get it all!
Sad. Disgusted.
I expect better from Freepers.
You abuse the privilege.
You are posting a lie.
I listened to the debate tonight and Trump said he would not fund PP as long as they perform abortions.
Not at all.
If you will check the record, Trump claimed many Republican women have told him PP does many great things beside abortions.
Now he's already said he'll defund the abortion business. And he's listening to the women he trusts (even if they're mistaken).
What more can you ask of him?
Does he want to fund the non abortion side with tax dollars? I appreciate the fact that a few Trump supporters are discussing rather than name calling.
You can like it or not, I don't particularly, but I know WHY he's doing it - it's politics, and it's going to win him millions of votes.
But if you think it means he likes abortion, he's made it clear he doesn't.
You can really only criticize him for this if you think his saying this will result in MORE murdered kids than if he didn't say it. I don't think so.
Abortion will only cease to be a reality in this country when there is a broad cultural change/awakening -> part of that is getting out the propagandists who praise abortion and allowing Americans to simply reflect on what it actually is, but other than that, it's not going to be government that ends it.
So if it gets him elected, and he's anti-abortion and allows for the conversation to become real rather than a political debate which divorces democrats from their responsibility to look at themselves, and what it actually is, it's not killing babies, and it may be saving them.
Feel free to criticize me on that, so long as you keep it rational. I care about what works, not being right, regarding this election, and the same goes for abortion. Trump dumping on Planned Parenthood is not going to help him govern or get him any more votes than he's already getting. They're too easy (and legitimately easy) a target, it's not going to save lives, so he might as well use it to get crossover women voters.
Again, take me to task on that if you like. But can you really say that in saying what he said, he has cost lives? Caused more abortions? Just because a democrat says 'well maybe he's not so bad', does that make him bad? Because that's what he's doing.
Whether Trump is a good or bad man, his style is to do what works to make things right (again - you can argue that his version of 'right' is totally wrong - I'm only talking here about how he operates to get what HE thinks is right, and hence why he keeps praising everything-they-do-except-abortion), rather than to do what would appear to make him look right.
This strategy has gotten him where he's at, and it's already done a ton ... I repeat a TON ... of good for America, even if he drops out tomorrow.
“I apologize if I got the quote wrong. Which part?”
In order to be fair, you should post all of Trump’s response.
I heard the words “pro-life” and “de-fund” in his complete answer.
If? IF???
I would like to understand how Christians can support a guy who would mock a disabled person. I don’t get it, many here were against Romney, one of the reasons being that he flip flopped on abortion, but now it’s okay that Trump flip flopped on the issue?
It is a lie? What part of it? Others voting for Trump are having an honest dialog about it. Will you join them?
See post #47
I’d give you a like if I could.
Maybe to not support PP at all due to their history of selling baby body parts. That’s not a snarky comment. I feel like I have to explain because rational discussion has all but disappeared from our beloved board.
Well..from what I understand you left out part of the quote....that said it seems there are Americans who prioritize things and PP isn’t at the top of their list....and as much as abortion disgusts me I think we have to get other issues dealt with first or we won’t have a country. (Immigration, finances, Courts)
I would like to understand how Christians can support a guy who would mock a disabled person
********
Because he didn’t. Trump repeatedly said he didn’t know the reporter was disabled. When people in the MSM and others repeat such calumny his strength only grows. There is plenty to criticize Trump over but not this.
Thank you tinyowl. There is a lot to chew on there.
You prove my point. You’re a dishonest hack. Either that or incredibly stupid. Listen to the candidates and make up your own damn mind and stop with the whiny questions to anonymous people asking dumb questions to answers you already have for yourself.
It's one thing to get 'words mean things'
It's an entirely other thing to get 'words are actions'
If you get the second, then you get Trump's success so far. But if you stop at meaning, you miss the actual impact they have.
When Trump talks about 'negotiating' ... he's not talking about finding the perfect mix of two things that add up to be 100% - both parties taking x portion of the 100%. He's talking about shifting what's on the table, or shifting perceptions of what's on the table.
Right now, the reason abortion has so much support is that it's not seen for what it is. That's the only thing that matters. Trashing Planned Parenthood doesn't shift the conversation at all. However, disrupting the Dem talking point that 'Conversavatives are against abortion equals Conservatives are against women and choice and reproductive FREEDOM' ... that changes the nature of the conversation. No ARGUMENT is going to stop abortion, the dems just dig their heals in and start killing MORE bablies - they make it fashonable - a badge of pride. Same reason everyone thinks they are gay or bi now. You have to let them reflect, let the country reflect, withdraw all government support for it, undermine the propaganda. But attacking it has gotten us where we are.
So I would argue that those most adamant about cursing people to hell for not realizing how evil it is, are helping to keep it in place. Have you ever heard the saying "Resistance Creates Persistence"? ... I hate cliche's, but sometimes, they fit.
I’m sorry, I can’t find the entire response. Do you know where I could find a transcript?
Interesting that God used Solomon, a very worldly man in the women department, to pen about the vanities of man in the flesh... My favorite part of Solomon's writing comes in Ecclesiastes l:9-11, and Chapter 12.
