Fellow Freepers,
Here is the quote from Donald Trump regarding Planned Parenthood tonight.
"But millions and millions of women, cervical cancer, breast cancer, are helped by Planned Parenthood. So you can say whatever you want but they have millions of women going through Planned Parenthood that are helped greatly."
Questions for discussion: How is this not an endorsement of Planned Parenthood? In your opinion, should we support a candidate who endorses Planned Parenthood in any way, even performing non-abortive services?
The old 3% myth, straight from PP itself.
Trump is right about Planned Parenthood. I was at a debate watching party, and several WOMEN (all conservatives and two FReepers) said that ‘he gets it.’ Many women have a friend or relative who has used PP for a Pap smear or cheap gyno exam. The blowhard Cruz would never get a single penny defended, as conservatives never have by simply denouncing everything PP does. Trump is brilliantly conceding they do ‘some good’ and will build a consensus around ‘defunding the bad.’ Of course the secret is that by doing so, the entire house of cards will collapse.
Good point! That might be what he is hiding.
No offense but this is exactly the moves every losing republican candidate has made, initially talking conservative and then moving left to scoop up non conservatives.
Not that I am with any of them. I am done with all of them now.
If planned parenthood stopped doing abortions it wouldn't be planned parenthood as we know it...
So change their name...Now, is Trump the bad guy for supporting an organization that provides services to women??? I don't think so...At least not to the point where it becomes a campaign issue...
He is asking for CROSSOVER VOTES.
Surely you have to understand this.
He said he would defund Planned Parenthood because of abortion right after he said they do good work.
Another point... there are a LOT of women in this country that aren't necessarily political that do NOT have a hatred of Planned Parenthood that most Conservatives do.
When a Republican talks about "Closing down Planned Parenthood!," those women turn their ears off.
They don't want to hear that stuff. It's sad, but true.
Trump is a salesman. The primary skill of a businessman is SALES. Making DEALS.
When Trump says things like this that get a lot of narrow-minded Freepers all in a tizzy......
HE IS THROWING A SALES PITCH TO DEMOCRAT CROSSOVER VOTERS!! ! ! !
It really isn't that hard to understand.
Republicans have totally forgotten how to sell their ideas and get people to vote for them.
Trump got more votes in Nevada than the ENTIRE vote in 2012. Do you think those were all Republicans?
No! He's getting Republicans, Independents, AND Democrats to vote for him!
Sheesh!!
Trump is getting millions of democrats to switch over because of this.
He's demonstrating that he's not anti-women, in fact, he's pro-woman.
.....it's politics, and it's going to win him millions of votes.
Agree totally.
For a political forum, a lot of people here don't understand politics.
The average voter has been fed this idea that PP does all these things.
She did play the race card.
I wasn’t trolling @LesbianThespianGymnasticMidget, just using the name to prove my point, which I did.
Of course I brought up PP. This is (was) a major issue amongst conservatives. Donald defended them in the debate last night.
At this point I am for none-of-the-above. I suppose I’ll vote for the nominee in the general.
None of this is a mystery, neither is it stirring up muck. Is it that you just don’t like me questioning a Trump policy position? You brow-beaters are over the top.
For the nonce, I already explained Trump's position on PP weeks ago: he is playing "mindspace preparation" for the general to head off the inevitable "Bible Thumper who hates womyn, because PP and women's health care."
He's playing 3-D chess: he hates to lose; and his career has taught him the importance of strategic planning in advance.
His bluster is to win over the Kardashian crowd: intelligence is on a bell curve, so about half the population has an IQ of UNDER 100, by definition. Excessive erudition, and syllogisms, will always lose to slogans: hence the Dems' reliance on "Bush Lied, People Died" and "Hands Up, Don't Shoot."
The GOP has shell shock from losing nobly for far too long. And they are losing the country and all our civil rights by a multi-pronged attack through the courts, the entertainment industry, the news, the schools, and the courts.
Jerking oneself off over "we finally have a Harvard Law grad with an IQ of 150 so they can't call him dumb" won't work: the left seamlessly switches to "religious nut" and wins that way. They don't CARE about the truth.
Which is probably the other reason Trump is all over the board: if he does not stick to any one position, Alinsky tactics of "isolate, freeze, polarize" do not work.
True, Trump *might* turn on the base: but the rest of the GOP already *HAS*. And his "art of the deal" may mean deals with Pelosi and Reid: but that means in turn, we get SOMETHING out of it, rather than just self-righteous moral indignation while we lose the whole country.
When in 2011 before or after we pulled all troops out of Iraq?
When in 2011 was that - before or after we pulled all troops out of Iraq?
That's even better than opinion - it's fact if anyone would take the time to read/listen to/include ALL his words on the topic instead of pansy-assing around with partial facts to make asinine claims.
Found it.

Note the date. The tweet was many months later when it was obvious we were pulling all troops out on 21 October 2011. That changed things. Hillary was gushing about the “Arab spring”.
Not getting the dates and context right is a lie of omission. Ted does it all the time. And so do people here on FR.
Lie of omission;
“Also known as a continuing misrepresentation, a lie by omission occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions.”
