Can we slow down on the Vanity posts. There is so much chaff on the site now it takes forever to get through the real news articles.
The vanities lately have become screeds, responses to screeds, or simply horrible blog posts.
I understand the irony of using a vanity to kill vanities.
But, this junk has got to stop.
That is all.
Flame away.
No flame here. Also, while we’re at it, can we reduce the amount of chaff in the “breaking news” column?
I think it has become the “slightly interesting news” side bar.
Tick-a-lock!
There use to be a unwritten rule that thou shall not post duplicate threads. That’s gone out the window recently. It’s like you email box getting spammed. /rant
Wait. A vanity post requesting fewer vanity posts? Are vanity posts contributing to global warming? Because if they are, I want more. (-7 F this morning).
I think the vanity posts are people expressing their anxiety. A Supreme from the good side is dead. The presidential race is just nasty. The world seems poised for a potential nuclear conflict in Syria. Cops are getting killed because Obama, Hillary and Sanders say things that encourage killing cops. Prices are going up. Job security is nonexistent. I could go on. The vanity posts allow people to talk to those of like mind with little risk. It is cheap therapy in an increasingly dangerous world.
Why don’t you just ignore them?
Because these newbies do not mark them vanities.
If there’s one thing I have always hated, it’s mutant variants!
Gotcha. Have a good day.
I’m in favor of vanity posts, especially when they’re posted by me.
OK, just kidding. In all seriousness, it might be a good idea to add “Vanity” to the list of possible posting forums. Then allow the FR member to opt out of seeing them.
Dr. Sirvana just pointed that out to me. I get your point.
Generally I would agree with you on that, but therapy is supposed to help. These merely escalate the tension.
Maybe we should return to the rules of labeling vanity posts, vanity posts.
If we could exclude vanities with an op out, that would be OK.

I’ve been here for years and have only posted like 2 vanity posts, one of which was deleted by a mod who apparently didn’t want to see any more threads about Zimmerman. I never complained, but now I don’t share much. I understand the need to keep things uncluttered, but censure also has a negative effect.
