On Thursday, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) told the media that he questions whether Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (DS-Vt.) was as involved in the civil rights movement as he has said he was.

As noted by CNN, Sanders on multiple occasions has talked about his past as an activist during the civil rights movement in the 1960s at the University of Chicago. Sanders repeatedly mentions his work with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. ...

As I saw on the news last night Bernie was in Chicago and Lewis was in Alabama and Georgia, so why would he known him or seen him?

The big controversy was whether a picture of Bernie shown in a campaign commercial where is he was at meeting was him or not. What a crock, this is an issue? Just shows how cynical and hypocritical the MSM, Lewis and the Clinton Campaign really are.

That’s funny, I never saw the current Republican front-runner in any of the “conservative movement” fights of the last quarter century either.

Oh, that’s right. He was busy funding our most virulent Democrat enemies.

It was a big movement and John Lewis couldn't be everywhere.

Two more controversies to add to this:

1) Bernie and anti-Bernie forces are fighting over photos of 1960s meetings. Is it Bernie or isn't it?

2) John Lewis has a habit of saying things that aren't true and remembering things that didn't happen. Or at least of making highly ambiguous statements.

When he said that he didn't see Sanders in the 1960s, he said that he did see Bill and Hillary. Back in the Sixties? Protesting for Black rights? It's anybody's guess what Lewis meant, but what you might take him to mean -- he saw the Clintons on the frontlines of the conflict -- almost certainly isn't true.

But the point here is to throw doubt over Bernie Sanders and every little bit helps. Democrats forget the actual claims, but absorb the impression Lewis is trying to create.

Interesting, so John Lewis can’t remember Bernie? Was this picture at Selma or someplace else?

If this is legit Bernie should be running this all over.

Like Jane Fonda Hayden predicted years ago, the American people will eventually embrace communism.

That has been my ongoing unanswered question...

The left, including Obama and Hillary (by association or independently), are virulently anti Semitic and anti Israel.

I’m not particularly interested in how Sanders may portray himself in the present day...the reality is that he is Jewish by any strict or casual definition.

As usual, the first thing a Republican would be asked about is the last thing a Democrat will be asked about.

Thank you for referencing that article Olog-hai. As usual, please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

In defense of Bernie Sanders and his alleged absence from the Civil Rights Movement, please consider the following.

The states have given the feds the power only to strengthen those rights which the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect. In fact, the only civil rights which the feds are constitutionally authorized to strengthen deal with voting rights as evidenced by the 15th, 19th, and 26th Amendments to the Constitution.

In other words, most federal civil rights protections are based on constitutionally nonexistant federal government powers, such rights likely intended to win votes from low-information voters who have never been taught about the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.

Remember in November !

When patriots elect Trump, Cruz, or whatever conservative they elect, they need to also elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its Section 8-limited powers to support the new president, but also protect the states from unconstitutional federal government overreach.

Also, consider that such a Congress would probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activistjustices.

In the early 60's Bernie worked on a communist kibbutz modeled on the "communist ideals of the Soviet Union." He is a Stalinist at heart and his election would lead to a hot civil war in America.

I never saw John Lewis while I was trying to scratch out a living in East Texas in 1960 either.

“”Sanders on multiple occasions has talked about his past as an activist during the civil rights movement in the 1960s””

As opposed to John Lewis who has NEVER stopped talking about his past as a ‘60’s civil rights activist! His only claim to fame and for some reason it keeps getting him returned to the House....
