From Avis Facebook, new statement. Guess they Varsity team took over. (much better statement)
We have investigated the denial of a rental that recently occurred in Manhattan. We have found that we have been inconsistent in applying our policies with respect to documentation requirements with this customer, who has rented from us in the past without providing a second form of identification. We are committed to providing an outstanding car rental experience to our customers and believe that we should have done better here. We have spoken with the customer and apologized for the misunderstanding that occurred as a result of this inconsistency in applying our documentation policy, and the customer has accepted our apology. We reiterate our policy that we do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin or sexual orientation. We intend to take steps, including additional training, to improve the consistency in our application of documentation policies.
bump
Someone with some sense and they did admit the customer was right, in a kumbaya way. It took too long and a lot of people won’t forget that on their official FB page they attacked a customer. (I know they spoke to the media, but I still think that the couple did AVIS a favor. They should have a policy that is company-wide on documentation required.)
Avis der Judenrein.
Imagine if it was a mussies who was denied?? The outrage, the screaming from the MSM??
I would have been so tired I would have gotten a taxi and sent a bill to Avis.
The thing is, this Israeli had been renting from this office for weeks, and just prior rented okay, then all of a sudden?
I would have sent the bill to my lawyer who would have sent it to Avis.
re: “Antisemitism according to Avis is inconsistency in applying policies with respect to documentation requirements. I wonder who pulled that out of their ass.”
Excellent comment. Absolutely correct.
welcome, Interesting it is.
In the back of my mind I wonder if there has been some DHS memo regarding car rentals and ME IDs. If there has been a DHS memo, I have no doubt it was typical Fed Govt. confusion and BS.
One of them is already suing Bloomingdales for wage discrimination.
The weak schmucks at Avis are not going to fire her, OUTRAGEOUS!!
lol, I had to look that up.
So they were just religious bigots? Okay, much better!
They certainly need to EARN many customers LOYALTY after this. How they will do that? Waiting for it to die down I suppose.
The woman was black. End of story. (That’s what they say about whites).
Got it! Thanks!
That all still doesn’t make sense.
No, you completely misread the story.
The customer refused to give his passport to the agent at the office, that was the initial hold up in the rental.
This is confirmed by the statements of both the wife and husband.
He only offered to show his passport on a later call to the national office when they backed up both the agent and manager in explaining that a passport was a legitimate requirement for foreign renters. This requirement is also on their website.
Except in between the two the customer had been throwing around his weight as an exec to bully the office to break company policy for him. Which one can infer from the husbands explanation of his call to national. He says they changed their story from not renting over docs to not renting over rudeness. But I think there is no change in story, they are directly related... They didn’t rent because he got rude after refusing to present required docs. I can just see it now, “do you know who I am?”.
He rented a car two days earlier without having to show the docs. That doesn’t mean the last agent was wrong in requiring them as called by her training and company policy.
Avis is being falsely smeared here badly.
The claims of racism are ridiculous.
Avis apologized for confusion caused by inconsistent doc requirements, but it’s ridiculous to apologize for agent requesting docs they are supposed to request.
In a way this is a mirror image of the social justice warriors success at smearing innocent people and companies.
Whatever.
lol, they need to be real nice now.
