When things begin to get you down or the world overwhelms, it usually helps to listen to music that inspires you. A song I've recently found very inspirational, among many - even though I don't understand the words - is a song from the sound track of the documentary Patterns of Evidence
One of my favorites from the movie: Winning
Wow! That’s a great version of a great song, and I love the images of the 30s microphones and recording equipment, especially the record lathe right at the beginning.
And I have always had a weakness for old s**t kicking music!
I love that song. I saw Richman and the Modern Lovers perform live in 1981, I think it was.

How Great Thou Art if my favorite, too.
Mine too!
Wow! I loved that. Thanks for the link.
I have to rest up from just listening to it.
You exactly capture my sentiments. :-) I'm worn out from listening to all the great music posted.
I know the story behind the song, so I know the reason for his despair. Most people, I would venture to guess, are ignorant of the song’s origin and backstory.
My grandmother, rest her soul, used to say that playing music was prayer without words, and when words failed me in prayer, music took over.
To me, this kind of music is therapy:

Good choices. I only came up with 2 in a real quick choice.
Lee Greenwood - God Bless the U.S.A.
Battle Hymn of the Republic
You said, “I always thought words like that could inspire men to storm the gates of hell.......” (The Battle Hymn of the Republic)
I believe we still can.
Yep! It’s next to “All Avout That Bass” on my kettlebell mix.
In most if not all hymnals, the third verse of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” is left out:
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
“As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.”
“Battle Hymn of the Republic”
Excellent piece. One of my favorites. I love so many different songs that it’s hard to consolidate them all into one list.
Same here. Some extremes :)
The Lion King - Circle of Life
We'll meet beyond the shore We'll kiss just as before Happy we'll be beyond the sea And never again I'll go sailing
Once upon a hill We sat beneath a willow tree We were counting all the stars And waiting for the dawn But that was once upon a time Now the tree is gone How the breeze Use to ruffled through her hair How we would always laughed? As though tomorrow wasn't there We were young and never were care Where did it go?
