RedState's own Leon Wolf did a great job exposing the Politico story about Ben Carson and West Point as a lie. Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel is also churning out great information on Twitter regarding the story.
I want to focus on what Donald Trump is doing with the story, however.
Yesterday, November 5, Donald Trump had this to say about Politico:
Look, Politico is so dishonest in so many different things. This Politico website or whatever the hell they call it, I mean, they write about me. We don't deal with them anymore because the level of dishonesty is incredible.
Today, November 6, Donald Trump is spreading the false Politico story about Ben Carson. Below is one of the several Trump Tweets citing the Politico piece.
What an incredible turnaround. It appears Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to destroy Carson, who is poised to disrupt his position as GOP frontrunner.
Yesterday, Trump seized on the silly CNN investigation of Carson's childhood. According to Trump, Carson's childhood might be a "total fabrication.?
Ironically, much of Trump's support is due to the perception that he tells the truth and shuns the mainstream media. It is now clear that he will abandon that notion when it suits him politically.
+1
Yeah, that is most definitely a retweet, but is there more?
The red state article seems to indicate it, but I don’t see it..or at least have not seen it yet.
No, I would not call you a liar.
That professor you mentioned could have had some sway in helping
you gain a scholarship to that Jr. College.
However, that is not the way it works with West Point.
No one is “offered” a scholarship to West Point.
No instructor or professor has the power to “hold a spot” at West Point.
I supported drafting Walker for President back in 2012 when he was the most popular figure with the Conservative grassroots coming off his recall victory. If this primary season had been any indication, he’d have crumpled against Zero. Trump has done an amazing job at weeding out the weak, incompetent and establishment flunky candidates. Were it not for him and his candidacy, we’d be looking at a 3rd consecutive loss with another RINO establishment loser (and deliberately-chosen leftist loser).
Well you know how it goes these days.
If you REFUSE to vote FOR people that campaign on working with Obama, support amnesty, personally fund and profit from abortion, the gay agenda/marriage or advocate butchering the 2nd Amendment, you are an evil ‘purist’ that hates America and loves Obama. Axelrod thanks you.
But if you SUPPORT and VOTE FOR people that campaign on working with Obama, support amnesty, personally fund and profit from abortion, the gay agenda/marriage, or advocate butchering the 2nd Amendment, you are an American patriot, a rock ribbed conservative and are doing what’s right for your country.
Such is “Conservatism” in 2015. Oops sorry. I misspelled CANCERvatism.
That is not what occurred...
What occurred was a ROTC endorsement which is automatic for the top performer. Ben was that guy.
The ROTC, and the JROTC both have opportunities to obtain a nomination.
The fact is that you hate Trump. You post anti-Trump hit pieces. So does the media, so do the Democrats, so does the RINO Establishment, so does the ultraleft pop culture.
Will you vote for Trump when he is the nominee ?
I’m not “getting emotional”—get a grip.
I’m not “getting emotional”—get a grip.
There is no such thing as being “offered” a scholarship to West Point.
It does not exist. Never has, more than likely never will.
Zero has always been off limits by the media. If he got a fraction of the treatment (media gang-rape) that Herman Cain received in 2011, he’d have crumpled in short order. The media, of course, is looking to gang rape Dr. Carson in the same way. The last thing they want is a Black man leading Black people off the Democrat-Communist Slave Plantation. Without Blacks to exploit, their little dog and pony show collapses like a house of cards in a windstorm.
If the unattractive shoe fits Trump, he will have to wear it.
I don’t vote for Democrats.
We’ll have to see who’s the nominee. I certainly want it to be a conservative.
Not going to disagree with you on that. I too think Trump has been good for the process, but I just cannot support him when there is what I see as a 100% conservative in the race and closing in on the top tier..In fact some are already describing him that way.
Other than Trumps very strong immigration stance, I am not dazzled or impressed. I also sense, knowing what I know about DC and government, that trump may well be writing a check that cannot be cashed.
A lot of his rhetoric requires funding and that requires cooperation in the House.
Funding that has never materialized before with similar promises..(not the first time we have had a “wall” promised. It was called a fence before but now the wall is the term since Israel built theirs.
But he can roll back all of obamas executive orders and regain control over the agencies so that we return back to Bush’s second term where illegals were self deporting due to intense pressure from ICE (still use the old acronym)
We had plane flight daily back to Honduras etc,,,,and crossings dropped substantially....
All those laws are still on the books.
Need I remind you that few months ago you were posting hit pieces on Ted Cruz when Scott Walker was running for the nomination
But, predictably, you still didn't answer the question.
Will you vote for Donald Trump when he is the GOP nominee in November 2016 ? It's a simple yes or no question.
You just keep saying it that way and I will keep saying it my way.
Do you want a ad from West point that calls it a scholarship? There is one...
Do you want the WP entrance rules showing the ability of the ROTC to offer these appointments and the required nominations?
I have posted them on another thread.
So that leaves us with the term scholarship as opposed to nomination.
If nomination leads to the appointment, the stipend, 10K per year, and all expense paid education including medical care, room and board, would you refuse to identify that as a full scholarship?
I suppose if you were knee deep in the military chain of command, you may not use that term, but a 17 year old civilian would, as would a Yale educated Doctor.
As a huge Trump supporter (check my posting history if you don’t believe me), what Trump did yesterday was simply pathetic and disappointing. Trump essentially kicked Carson while he was down.
Politico lies about Dr. Carson; what does Trump do? Does Donald go after Politico for their “assassination” of Dr. Carson through lies and a smear campaign? Nope, Donald takes the opportunity to kick Carson while he was down. Sorry, but this was classless on Trump’s part.
I hope those who bought this Politico hit piece on Dr. Carson are equally supportive when they try this on Trump.
Even Rush seemed disappointed by Trump using this opportunity to kick a fellow Republican when they were down considering the media outright lied about Carson’s past.
Very disappointed in Trump for this.
Once again, to those who want to call me a Trump basher or a TDS sufferer, check my posting history. what Trump did yesterday was tacky and just plain wrong.
If President Trump can accomplish tackling the illegal invasion problem alone, he will be the greatest President in the past 100 years.
BTW, as for Dubya's policies on illegals, he did nothing. My neighborhood (which is 1,100 miles from the Mexican border) turned into a crime-ridden barrio on Dubya's watch, well before Zero succeeded him and continued the open borders/kiss Mexico's ass insanity.
That's hyperbole! It's also insulting, becuase you are describing democrats and linking them to members of FR engaged in a Republican primary. I don't know what is in Trump's special sauce, but it must be really addicting. Funny thing is that I can't taste it..
Trump’s campaign ended yesterday unless he apologizes.
