Ben Carson now leading in NC, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin
The American Thinker ^ | October 6, 2015 | Ed Straker

.........[Ben Carson] is leading in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Wisconsin, and Iowa. That's impressive. It's well-known that he's doing well with religious conservatives in Iowa, but now it looks as though he has appeal throughout the South and other Midwestern states.

[SNIP]

What can Trump do to rebound? He has tried casting doubt on Carson's religion. He has tried having plenty of book signings. In an interview recently he said he was going to replace Obamacare with "something much better." Who wouldn't want to vote for someone who is going to institute a "something much better" health care system? He also promises to "quickly and brutally cut the head off of ISIS." I'm for cutting the head off ISIS. Let the head-cutting begin!

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be enough for voters. His tax plan has higher rates than other tax plans, like Ted Cruz's flat tax.

I'm not a big Ben Carson fan. I don't think he has the experience to be an executive or the temperament to take on Hillary. Trump might be able to at least do the latter. So what can Trump do to improve his position in the polls?

1) Talk about the insanity of "transgenderism" - letting boys into girls' locker rooms.

2) Give more detail on his vague immigration plan of letting the "good ones" come back after they are deported. How many "good ones" are there? Millions?

3) Speak out about the need for voter ID to protect the integrity of the voting process.

4) Pledge to end birthright citizenship by executive order on the first day of his presidency.

5) Tell us what he would replace Obamacare with. I suspect he himself does not know.

What else do you think he can do to help himself?

I’ve seen clips of his “rap” ads on FNC and they definitely are a huge turnoff! ...Carson is digging his own campaign grave. (Hopefully!)

Well that's it. You've won me over to Carson. I'm through with that rapscallion Trump. Actually what really did it for me was Carson's expounding on the pyramids of Egypt being the grain elevators of the gods. That's insightful. Deep, in fact.

I’d like to know who commissions all these polls. Follow the money.

I find it hard to believe that Carson, of all people, is leading anywhere. The guy supports amnesty, more gun control, and has announced that he and Sharpton have the same goals. He also keeps a Farrakhan supporter on his advisory staff. All this coupled with the fact that he looks and sounds like he’s on heavy duty medication, would turn off most “conservatives.”

The only explanation I can come up with for his polling is that the republican white guilt crowd is much larger than I had expected.

Right!

And Matt Bevin, according the "polls", didn't have a chance in hell to win.

What has Carson done or said to elevate his poll numbers.

Nothing I've seen or read? ...but he did say the pyramids were grain silos.

If republicans vote for an amnesty loving, anti-gun loony tune then we are screwed. I don't know who supports this guy.

Carson is the GOPe plant that is to take away the votes from Trump and the media, talking heads and RINOs are all in on it....

He isn’t there to win, he’s there to make sure Trump doesn’t make it so Hillary will....

I have a very good friend that lives in New York, and that person is very good friends with Trump people...The GOPe have set Carson up to take votes away from Trump so Hillary can win, the media; talking heads; and RINOs are all in on this...

Carson is NOT in this to win, he's the GOPe plant to make sure that Hillary is the next POTUS...if you fall for this crap, then Hillary will win, who else has the street smarts to take Hillary out? NO ONE...but Trump can...DON”T FALL FOR THIS!!! And Trump/Cruz are together to win this election so tough it out and stand strong....after this upcoming debate you will see what is going on!!!

The weird part is that the articles in American Thinker have shifted to the left in a devious way while still pretending to espouse conservative values. In the last year it has gone from being an excellent resource to a partisan hack forum with poorly reasoned, poorly sourced drivel, like this article.

It is being done to drive Trump to attack mode.

Carson may have a big Iowa game going, but after that, not much going.

Seems to a growing trend in journalism. The move left.
I haven’t considered Fox News “conservative” for at least 6 years.

I saw a black couple with a window sticker on their car couple months back.

Somebody, somewhere, is selling lots of Trump stickers around here.

Would love to get my paws on one.

The media is preparing Carson already for the takedown after they use him to sideline Trump.

They’ll use his religion, his vitamins, his penchant toward friendliness, and his lack of political experience. The population will hear it 24/7 and come to believe that it means something when it doesn’t.

The same with Trump. They’ve drip, drip, dripped him for months now on everything possible. Those paper cuts add up. I expect some big operation against him in the next few days.

They will eventually attack Cruz over religion, birtherism, and oppositional personality.

That leaves them with Bush and Rubio. The base simply won’t go for Kasich. Bush doesn’t seem to have it, and it is evident that he doesn’t.

“So your criteria for choosing Trump, is your belief that he is a “winner.” Period.”

Correct. Period. I tend to not want to back losers. Just like Trump doesn’t like losers. But you go ahead and back another loser. You’re good at it.

Let’s wait for the next round of polling, when the tales of ghetto gangsta life and magic grain pyramids make the rounds.

Hillary would beat Ben like a rented mule.

Yep.

Hillary, the media, liberals, and the GOPe don’t want her to face Trump. It wouldn’t be business as usual for them.

If we currently had an actual primary of just republicans, Carson wouldn’t do so well. The media would be forced into a different narrative. These poll numbers are lies.
