In Irving, Texas on Monday, High School student and 14 yr old Sudanese immigrant Ahmed Mohamed proudly brought his homemade clock to school. In a rabid bit of Islamophobia, his teacher feared the worst and in a gross overreaction, called the police. The police equally overreacted and Ahmed found himself under arrest. In order to highlight and educate against our biases, the President has invited Mr. Mohamed to the White House as a show of solidarity.
In the wake of this tragic misunderstanding, how can we, as Americans, learn to better deal with our inner racist programming and prejudices?
The above certainly is the intended narrative. Or, to put it another way, what a pant load of bunk!
Lets consider the following:
1. Ahmed Mohameds father, Mohamed Mohamed (Ididnt make that up) is an anti-Islamaphobic activist, whatever that might be. It sounds to me like young Ahmed grew up being incessantly exposed to the grievance industry.
2. Mr. Mohamed, Sr. is already taking to the airwaves denouncing the prejudices of the nation that took him in from Sudan. No good deed goes unpunished.
3. The White House missed no opportunity to beat the American public over the head with its race-baiting brand of social justice.
4. The clock was purposely made with exposed wires and contained within a pencil case that appeared to be a briefcase.
5. According to Ahmed, hes been nicknamed since middle school as, variously, bombmaker and terrorist. Did he not understand that a clock attached to wires buried in a case would be misconstrued? Of course he did!
6. Most convincingly, according to police, part of the reason that took young Ahmed into custody was that he was being purposely evasive about the rationale for bringing this device to school, and about its intended purpose. Evasiveness is normally (not always) a sign of culpability. It certainly indicates that what transpired was anything but an innocent misunderstanding.
By all appearances, this whole event was a staged bit of agitprop. The Left specializes in using test cases to make its political arguments.
If this is a piece de political resistance, and it appears to be, then it is also an act of terror in and of itself. In order to capitalize on the display of this clock, those being shown device had to believe that it could be a bomb, and act appropriately. In doing so, young Ahmed was purposely attempting to create a panic. He didnt bring a clock to school; he brought a fake bomb to school.
This act of trying to incite a panic is an act of terror. Young Ahmed, at last, has found validation from his classmates: he is indeed a terrorist. (I wonder if he and the President will fist bump in the Oval Office?)
The greatest concern from this event is what happens next time a budding Islamic terrorist student attempts to test the resolve of some school staff, somewhere. Will that staff now pause before taking appropriate action out of respect to political correctness? We wouldnt want to offend the next young terrorist at one of our public schools, now would we?
By encouraging delaying the next time to take appropriate action, as a result of this time, are your children now potentially more at risk if the next fake bomb isnt fake?
More to the point, the whole narrative of Homeland Security is now turned on its head: See Something, Say Something, Youre a racist!
Enjoy your government paid trip to the White House, young terrorist Ahmed! Youve earned it.
And that's EXACTLY what it was.
It wasn't like this when I relocated here five decades ago. My fear is that Californication is underway. Even worse is that Irving zipcode 75038 is the most diverse in the entire nation! It's almost equally divided among Asian, black, Hispanic and White residents and is even worse than a zip in New York.
Fortunately, the Conservative mayor of Irving seems to have taken charge and making progress in cleaning up that city.
Calling it a hoax bomb was not an over-reaction. He even plugged it in during class so the alarm would go off, from what I’ve heard.
You heard correctly, FRiend! That's exactly what happened. I don't blame the English teacher one bit. My Bible professor at a private Christian college would have reacted the same way when a device that look like this was in the classroom.
"Police said the student had the briefcase in his English class, where he plugged it into an electrical outlet and it started to make noise."
Who can just get up in a class and pug something in the wall? I don't even remember where outlets are when I went to school. Maybe kids can just get up now and plug stuff in.
I read on a "disapproved site" that his father is an activist against islamophobia.
I see everything but the explosive. Where’s the beef?
This is the article by the engineer. Pretty damning.
Why didn’t the school treat it like a bomb threat if it appeared to be a bomb-like device?
Good Hunting... from Varmint Al
Deport this family back to Sudan. Staging a hoax terrorist incident is a violation of their stay here.
Hilarious, it figures coming from a pukey raghead, and also, long time, no see. Good to see your moniker!
Whatcha bet this was just a rouse to enable his dad to visit bammy??
When the school has been blown up we can point to another moment in obama's America that made it possible.
That pencil box contained the timer and the power supply; (9V batteries are used to trigger the initiator). The initiator(fuse) and the explosive were all that were missing.
If this kid were White and had an American flag on his t-shirt the media would be saying he deserved to be arrested..but since he’s a Muslim he’s a protected class and can pretty much do whatever he wants..Liberals will always protect Muslims, til liberals see first hand what Muslims can do to them, personally..that is when Liberals will finally get the message about what Islam is really all about..they have to feel it to understand it
Thank you.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
OTOH, maybe I was wrong about that trannie incident being the poster child for homeschooling.
At least HE's not implying he's going to blow the school up.
And the next young muslim terrorist might bring in a REAL bomb and school officials will hesitate to act because they don't want to be labeled *islamophobic* and someone's children will DIE.
All because we're being intimidated into not *offending* muslims.
The issue became if the device was an intentional bomb hoax.
