Trump Has Succeeded in Convincing Conservatives to Discard their Principles Overnight

Trump Has Succeeded in Convincing Conservatives to Discard their Principles Overnight by CHARLES C. W. COOKE. September 1, 2015.

Since he jumped self-confidently into the political limelight, Donald Trump has been quite the upside-down man. Customarily, primary seasons permit each party’s voters to indulge in a rational process of elimination: First, they discover which candidate most closely agrees with them on policy, and then they ask themselves whether that person is capable of representing their ideas in public. This time around, however, this process has been disastrously inverted, a solid portion of the Republican party’s balloters having decided first who they want to speak on their behalf, and then, as if t’were a mere afterthought, wondered what he might end up saying.

That their pick lacks any sort of conservative message at all does not seem to have mattered in the slightest. “We want that guy,” a host of voters have determined. “Whatever he believes, he says it so well.” If you have in the last few years become vexed and frustrated by the Republican base’s penchant for political purity, you should perhaps be breathing a little easier. A handful of months ago many of those who now make up Trump’s rank-and-file were ideological perfectionists who hated the GOP’s leadership, believed to their souls that the country was becoming a socialist hell-hole, and insisted vehemently that they had sat out the 2012 election because Mitt Romney was such a terrible squish. Today, by dint of some dark and unholy magic, these wannabe purists have hitched their wagons to Donald Trump, the greatest shape-shifter of them all. ......................... .......................................

I don’t see Trump as a liberal socialist. And if you love this country you know this is our only hope. McConnell can’t stop pp funding, senators lining up for Iran deal, we’re getting screwed every day every way and it’s not going to stop unless we do something different.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

The Donald shares the views I have on the most important issue of our time, immigration. The other candidates are woefully wishy-washy. It’s too important to overlook.

I noticed that “political purist” is the latest buzz phrase for anti GOP establishment voters.

You’re reaching there. Typical politics would give him the money from congress after winning election.
It’s ‘magical thinking’ IMO that congress would shut down the government- and he could/would put them in that position- to stop him.

Trump is nothing like a conservative. I wouldn’t support him if he paid me to. I might shut up though, lol.

“There are at least two very reliable consistent conservatives in the race, Sen. Cruz. and Gov. Jindal.”

Jindal is a reliable conservative? You don’t want to try to peddle that fantasy here in Louisiana.

“Donald Trump has been quite the upside-down man”

I’ve been saying for weeks that it is now bizarro world.

The most conservative candidate is not the most desirable.
A third party run is ok even if it ushers Hillary in office.
People now criticize Reagan and worship Trump in Reagan vs. Trump debates.

I miss the people before they abandoned their principles over this clown.

That’s a good analogy... Trump as a big, heavy wrench to toss into the machinery’s gears. That’s exactly what I want. That’s ALL I want. Disruption. Destruction. Intense pain and horror to all those who turned the country that I once loved and once pledged allegiance to into the current corrupt, fag-married cesspool it has now become.

Trump is putting the RINOS on notice. And that’s why they hate him.

I basically quit reading anything from National Review after the editor came out foursquare for gay marriage. However, I would like for someone to point out to me the conservative principles I have thrown out by supporting Trump. As a conservative, I have often called for:

1. deportation of illegals
2. build a wall
3. complained about the laughable free trade deals
4. am horrified with Obamacare
5. wanted a president who exalts American
7. wanted a president who is not for amnesty
8. wanted a president who will fight for America
9. wanted a president who is not enslaved to political correctness
10. there are more

Which one of these have I given up?

No, the GOPe created Trump as a viable candidate. They betrayed us, the base of the Republican Party, by making it abundantly clear that no conservative could be elected to a big office or have much influence. As such, they made THEMSELVES the enemy...and Trump will be our instrument to defeat them. After they are gone, we will pick up the pieces and go on from there.

No one can explain to me how it is NOT conservative to prevent the country from getting an irreversible majority of Democratic voters. This article did not do the trick, either.

In a last ditch effort to demoralize the conservative majority in the Republican Party they are calling us fake conservatives because we back Trump. They don’t get it, WE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TRUMP IS. He is a cringe worthy ex democrat YANKEE blow hard. But we are gambling he will deliver on THE critical issue of our time - the invasion of the USA from all over the world. Colonization.

On cue, NRO’s Cooke, Cost, Goldberg, and Geraghty each turn out one ant- Trump column a day.

It’s Cooke. He repackages the same Trump hit piece every day, sometimes twice a day.

Bravo. A lifelong Republican I'm ready in Pink's words to "burn this f#%*ker down."

The NRO GOPe chorus knows they are badly losing this, and the consultant class all stand to lose their jobs if Trump succeeds.
