There was no halftime show under the Friday night lights at Mississippis Brandon High School the marching band had been benched.
The band was ordered off the field because the Christian hymn How Great Thou Art was a part of their halftime show in violation of a federal court order.
The Rankin County School Board and District Office are very saddened students will not be able to perform their halftime show they have worked so hard on this summer, the district wrote in a statement to the Clarion Ledger newspaper.
In 2013 a student sued the district over a series of Christian meetings that had been held on school property, the newspaper reported. The district later settled the lawsuit and acknowledged they had violated the students First Amendment rights.

For those of you with no time, skip to the 6:30 mark and watch that band unfurl a giant cross.

Get YOUR children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!!
The first amendment no longer applies to anything Christian.
“They DO fear direct refusals.”
You’re wrong! This brave judge has gonads the size of Jupiter’s moons. If that band dares take to the field in defiance, he will storm out there, wag a scolding finger and bellow:
“YOU’RE ALL UNDER ARREST!! DON’T NOBODY MOVE!!!”

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Some fans should have organized a “flash mob” to sing the hymn during halftime.
I read on another thread that the audience spontaneously sang the song anyway in complete defiance of the unjust order.
It is time for the people and the states to just start ignoring the Federal Courts and the Federal Govt in general. All they can do is try and make an example out of a few; after that comes their collapse.
Repeal the 14th Amendment. This would do away with the “incorporation doctrine,” which is what these courts are using to suppress religious practice.
If you read the story, the crowd did break out into song. Guessing it will become a tradition until the judge demands that the games be played without a crowd.
I’m thinking Judge Reeves —Obama appointee—might be a Muslim. If he is, it would make sense. This judge’s orders are more hostile and far surpass the typical (unconstitutional) cease and desist orders sought by Atheists. This judge is demanding fines. Todd Starnes’ offer to pay the fine is well intentioned, but must not happen.
Hear me out.
We are being jihad-ed.
Creeping Shariah is what’s happening here, while the Constitution is being phased out.
In Islam, non-Muslims get 3 choices:
1. Convert
2. Pay a tax or fine, to be allowed to live (and practice your faith verrrrry
quietly —while your fines are used for continuing jihad)
3. Die
1 and 2 occur when Muslims are gaining in the population; 2 and 3 are when it’s too late.
We must not pay these fines. To do so is surrender.
The problem is too few Americans even know what the First Amendment says regarding religion.
Two clauses: Establishment and Prohibition.
These fools have consistently misrepresented the Establishment clause and utterly ignored the Prohibition clause, which says clearly
The free expression thereof (of religion) SHALL. NOT. BE. PROHIBITED. Period.
The Christian based Constitution promotes real tolerance, by protecting the right to express any faith you choose, or none at all. But both of those clauses must be understood and defended with our lives.
Shariah, on the other hand, violates both clauses, by requiring the Establishment of a theocracy, and by Prohibiting the expression of any faith other than Islam.
We need to understand and educate others about the Constitution.
People seeking to destroy the Constitution’s guarantee of religious freedom have consistently misrepresented the Establishment clause, while utterly ignoring the Prohibition clause, and Americans, in our ignorance, have allowed this, which has ironically made us ripe for a tyrannical theocracy to sneak in.
We must not allow this; we must NEVER agree to pay a fine to the state for expressing our faith in public. This is a blatant violation of the Prohibition clause and it is Islamic, theocratic, Shariah law, not Constitutional law.
Anyone tries to tell you otherwise, shout them down with the facts.
Thank you for that post. I pray Christians everywhere can stand up so proudly. Let those who are offended know that their intolerance will be ignored.
They should tell the judge to suck it! Obama is defiant, the people need to stand up and resist this judicial activism!

I grew up hearing that I lived in a free country. What a sick joke it has become!
They are only playing music, not singing any words! The kid is putting those offensive words in HIS OWN HEAD! If he is that offended by the song, in all the times he heard it before, (to know what the words are) why hasn’t he just created other words to go with the tune so he wouldn’t offend himself?
