In Alabama, Trumps Wizard of Oz Act Leaves Some Fans Underwhelmed
QUIN HILLYER
Toto the dog wasnt needed in Mobile, Ala., Friday night to pull the curtain from behind The Great and Mighty Trump. Trump let his own curtain flutter open, showing to much of the audience the humbug within. In an hour-long verbal meanderthon at half-filled Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Trump allowed an atmosphere of electric excitement to dissipate, and then he split town without his promised post-show press conference.
As I left the stadium, a red-hatted lady of my acquaintance spotted me and pulled me aside, saying: Somebody needs to tell that man when to shut the you-know-what up. People were leaving in droves. Well, not entirely droves, but by my estimate, about 1520 percent of the 18,000 or so attendees Trump publicity organs had earlier said they expected up to 35,000 had filed out before Trump wound up his many-versed hymn to his own toughness and deal-making skills.
The line of the evening belonged to Rob Holbert, a former press aide to Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi and now the co-publisher of the port citys Lagniappe weekly. That speech was more disjointed, he said, than a skeleton after tumbling down four flights of stairs.

I cannot imagine what a President Trump State-of-the-Union address would sound like.
I disagree. If Trump goes I don't see his supporters going to Bush. I think they go with the logical alternative, and that's Ted Cruz.
>> The Mobile authorities stated the crowd was 30,000 <<
Good enough for me. But crowd size can be misleading. Romney drew some huge crowds in late October and early November 2012, even in Ohio if I recall correctly.
More recently, I remember vividly how Ed Gillespie drew huge crowds in Virginia last year, just before he was defeated by Dhimmi leftist Timmy Kaine.
So whether the crowd size in Mobile was 15K or 30K, I can’t see how it matters one whit in the long run. More like fodder for idle chat.
Primaries are for you to vote your conscience, Vote Cruz
#1 selling item on Amazon right now is Make America Great Again hat !!!!
I just bought 2 for 2 of my customers !!!!
B friggin’ S
I LOVE Cruz, however Cruz doesn’t have what it takes to break up the lobbyist situation in DC, Cruz would still be beholden to the MONEY!!!!
A former aide to Trent Lott didnt like Donald Trumps speech? Trent Lott? One of the biggest ***hole RINOs to ever set foot in Washington?
It must have been a great speech, with 30,000 supporters, not fans in attendance.
Amen...we all said the Pledge of Allegiance and heard the National Anthem sang beautifully before he came out to the song “Sweet Home Alabama? ....I had a blast!
You weren’t at the rally
I was there..30,000 for sure..half the stadium was full and the infield was full...so go figure....with the infield mostly full in a 40,000 seat stadium...even my feeble mind knows there were at least 30,000 there....also when the Donald ended the song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister started....Everyone there was pumping their fist and the kids were jumping up and down....Great Rally!
doesn’t inspire much passion, depends on one’s perspective.
Cruz is playing this absolutely right. Hang back just enough to use the slip-stream effect.
Trump has and looks to be keeping up grabbing all the air (publicity) in almost both GOP and dem sides for some time to come. I think his goal is to run Yeb off.
“He is going to lose people if he doesnt quit his pointless rambling.
And folks like you do not help.”
Sounds like Trump’s great success is getting under your skin, lol. Good.
I envy you!
It must have been quite an event.
Yes, I agree.
Maybe he can hire a coach to help him, I don’t know.
But I would say that if you love America and cannot muster the fire to speak of how to reverse her slide in some manner that effectively communicates that is means everything to you, then you are not likely to be the one to reverse her slide.
I didn't say they would go to Bush.
Ya good. You might reconsider since I am in support of three, Trump, Cruz and Carson.
But because of twinks like you, I will reconsider my support of Trump. And you could go and check all of my supporting post on the guy, but since your so full of yourself, it wont matter.
“But because of twinks like you, I will reconsider my support of Trump.”
If your support of Trump is so shallow that it would depend on what I do or do not think or say, then it is worthless to begin with. Methinks you aren’t truly much of a fan, a faux fan at best. When it becomes inevitable that Trump will be our primary candidate, then you can jump on board and pretend you were there for him from the beginning. Don’t worry, only a few of us will know any better.
I dont have to worry, he will slam dunk himself very well by himself.
And your right, only a “few” will know any better.
“I dont have to worry, he will slam dunk himself very well by himself.
And your right, only a few will know any better.”
Unless of course I out you, lol.
You do not have to out me.
He is going to drop like a rock.
To bad really, has some real good ideas. But when simple minded people fall for another cult of personality like you have.
