Donald Trumps Fantasy of Mass Deportation Is Political Poison For The GOP by CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER August 20, 2015
This was not a subject that was on anybodys mind until I brought it up at my announcement. Donald Trump, on immigration, Republican debate, August 6 Not on anyones mind? For years, immigration has been the subject of near-constant, often bitter argument within the GOP. But it is true that Trump has brought the debate to a new place first, with his announcement speech, about whether Mexican migrants are really rapists, and now with the somewhat more nuanced Trump plan. Much of it visa tracking, E-Verify, withholding funds from sanctuary cities predates Trump. Even building the Great Wall is not particularly new. (I, for one, have been advocating that in this space since 2006.) Dominating the discussion, however, are his two policy innovations: (a) abolition of birthright citizenship and (b) mass deportation

B.S! We did it in 1954 and could do it again quite easily with proper leadership and enforcement of existing law.
For any disbelievers, please Google "Operation Wetback" and report back your findings.
What a shame that only old farts with good memories can remember true history.
Trump is turning GOPe talking heads into liars or idiots.
The Trump plan isn’t about mass deportation, it’s about immediate deportation of criminals. That’s got to be done.
Krauthammer is either a liar or an idiot, and I’d wager he’s a pretty intelligent guy. I vote liar.
Charles K. would not even be making his thoughtful assessment of the immigration problem were it not for Trump. It’s easy to be a pundit. Everyone on FR is something of a pundit. It’s another thing to be a promoter of ideas and solutions, of going large and taking risks.
‘
Not exactly sure why we should care about his views on the GOP or conservatism.
Hint: Krauthammer was for the guy who wasn't Ronald Reagan
Thank you. I’ve seen the effects of this in my own neighborhood. They were fleeing Arizona 5 years ago. Now they are back in droves. Now I have to sit through 4 cycles of a stoplight to turn down my street. Five years ago, I didn’t have to wait at all.
And almost as many self-deported prior to Operation Wetback as were returned involuntarily during.
Herr Krauthammer chimes in.
Do we really have to read what he says to know what he’s about?
These are the current GOPe talking points. O’Reilly went on about this tonight, Trump is going to lose an election that should have been in the bag for Republicans.
It’s all this back-seat strategizing by ignorant talking heads and opinion writers that gave us Obama twice. No, thank you.
George Will will probably end up having a stroke over Trump.
Self-deportation.
Huge fines for anyone hiring illegals, renting to illegals.
Illegals will be banned from getting any government benefits, including driver licenses. They will not be allowed to own cars.
If we make it unpleasant for them to be here, they will leave.
If we make the US an attractive destination for them, they will never leave and will keep coming and eventually Colonize the US
Trump is spot on.
It’s now or never.
This demorat bastards concern is just so touching.
Yeah, it’s bad to want to send people who knowingly broke the law and invaded our country home.
He is part of a group that are called elite. He does not care what us republicans think. We are just supposed to get in line and follow their pied piper. The hell with the old windbag.
Krauthammer was a speechwriter for Walter Mondale in 1984. Trying to help Mondale defeat Reagan.
It’s political poison for the GOPe.
Attrition thru enforcement. No need for mass deportation.
