In every town large enough to have two traffic lights there is a bar at the back of which sits the local Donald Trump, nursing his fifth beer and innumerable delusions. Because the actual Donald Trump is wealthy, he can turn himself into an unprecedentedly and incorrigibly vulgar presidential candidate. It is his right to use his riches as he pleases. His squalid performance and its coarsening of civic life are costs of freedom that an open society must be prepared to pay.
When, however, Trump decided that his next acquisition would be not another casino but the Republican presidential nomination, he tactically and quickly underwent many conversions of convenience (concerning abortion, health care, funding Democrats, etc.). His makeover demonstrates that he is a counterfeit Republican and no conservative.
He is an affront to anyone devoted to the project William F. Buckley began six decades ago with the founding in 1955 of National Review — making conservatism intellectually respectable and politically palatable. There still are many out there who are concerned about videos of the past coming out showing Donald Trump stating he was a Liberal, and doubt he is now a Conservative.
What many folks do not realize is that folks who were Democrat/liberal and then become Conservative end up being the strongest of conservatives! The reason is during the time they are Democrats they come to realize that liberal policies are not good for the country or their pocketbook! They become conservatives and will not turn back!
I am one of those former Democrats who became a strong conservative! I certainly can add that the Democrat Party of today is nothing like it was in the 40’s, as it has become more and more Marxist through the years!
Donald Trump is certainly making the Media, Democrats and many RINO’s very nervous and that sure is great fun to watch!! GO TRUMP!! :)
One person I am reminded of is Tammy Bruce she has become a fighting Republican and she is GAY!!!!! She was a HUGE DEM just a few years ago big name in NOW and BAM she saw the light and has not even looked back!!!!
We must all remember Reagan was a DEM and left the party, the DEM party now is Marxist, it is NOT so surprising Trump would leave the party can you even imagine the environmental regulations his business has come up against in the past few years????
I today have two sisters (who never evolved) who voted for Obama twice. They are NOW going through their own buyers remorse. Trust me, I tried to talk to them through the years, but it only made them angry. I asked them if the old saying is true that one should never talk politics to family and friends, then WHO should one talk to?? Strangers who don't love you??? Who might punch you in the face?? Their answer: You have your opinions we have ours. Let's not talk politics!
Thank God I have had FR and so many Conservative friends to talk to. And since I am never afraid to talk to anyone, I talk to strangers all the time!!! :)
