In a disturbing piece published in NY Mag, Michael Sonmore said that he's okay with his wife having sex with random men because he's a feminist.
The article is titled, "What Open Marriage Taught One Man About Feminism" and details Sonmore's "open" relationship with his wife.
It begins with this paragraph (emphasis mine): "As I write this, my children are asleep in their room, Loretta Lynn is on the stereo, and my wife is out on a date with a man named Paulo. Its her second date this week; her fourth this month so far. If it goes like the others, shell come home in the middle of the night, crawl into bed beside me, and tell me all about how she and Paulo had sex. I wont explode with anger or seethe with resentment. Ill tell her its a hot story and Im glad she had fun. Its hot because shes excited, and Im glad because Im a feminist."
Sonmore then writes about a realization he had: "It wasnt until my wife mentioned one evening that shed kissed another man and liked it and wanted to do more than kiss next time that I realized how my status as a Man depended on a single fact: that my wife [expletive] only me."
According to Sonmore, he realized not letting his wife sleep with other men was part of the Patriarchy: "She didnt present it as an issue of feminism to me, but after much soul-searching about why the idea of my wife having sex with other men bothered me I came to a few conclusions: Monogamy meant I controlled her sexual expression, and, not to get all womens-studies major about it, patriarchal oppression essentially boils down to a mans fear that a woman with sexual agency is a woman he cant control."
He continues, "We are afraid that when it comes time for sex, they wont choose us. This petty fear has led us as a culture to place judgments on the entire spectrum of female sexual expression: If a woman likes sex, shes a whore and a slut; if she only likes sex with her husband or boyfriend, shes boring and lame; if she doesnt like sex at all, shes frigid and unfeeling. Every option is a trap."
Sickeningly, Sonmore writes, "The point is that it should be women who choose, not men even the men theyre married to. For my wife, the choice between honoring our vows and fulfilling her desires was a false choice, another trap."
Then he explains when he became a feminist: "When my wife told me she wanted to open our marriage and take other lovers, she wasnt rejecting me, she was embracing herself. When I understood that, I finally became a feminist."
Just another screwed up liberal.
What a spineless faggot.
What he is is a cuckold.
But then again, he is a liberal male, and therefore lost his b*lls long long aho, in a galaxey far, far away.
(1) It fulfills a fantasy for him.
(2) It provides him cover for his own activities.
(3) She financially supports him.
The most important part of the story is missing.
“Monogamy meant I controlled her sexual expression, and, not to get all womens-studies major about it, patriarchal oppression essentially boils down to a mans fear that a woman with sexual agency is a woman he cant control.”
So, when women insist that men be monogamous, logic dictates they must be doing that to control our sexuality and institute an oppressive matriarchy, right?
Gives new meaning to the term "multi-cultural." (bacteria, viruses)
Wow...
When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none(Matt 12:43). Jesus speaks from the point of view of a demon evicted from its home. He has been displaced, and is obviously unhappy about it. He travels, seeking rest, and finds nonea miserable, unsatisfied existence. Then he says, I will return to my house from which I came. And when he comes he finds it empty, swept, and put in order(Matt 12:44). The unclean spirit attempts to again possess the man who was his homeand finds the man more than willing to have him back! Not only is he allowed entry, but the house is empty, swept, and put in orderready for demon habitation! Then he goes and take with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first(Matt 12:45). Finding his home far better than he left it, he decides to bring seven worse spirits so they can all live together and torment this man. Truly does Jesus say, the last state of that man is worse than the first. Jesus makes the application: So shall it also be with this wicked generation(Matt 12:45).
(Assuming he ever had one)
True.
And like the tagline for Pokémon: “Gotta catch ‘em all!”
Yikes, what a loser.
This is not only politically correct, but factually accurate. The are no longer husband and wife, but simply partners in raising some babies they made.
The article is one of the great examples of self-delusion. He marries a slut, doesn’t have the balls to throw her out and comes up with some pitiful screed to justify his lack of courage. Pathetic. I feel more sorry for the kids having these two worthless dregs as role models.
This is about Bill and Hill, right?
Well that relationship can’t end well.
precisely. One day pretty soon she will find a man she likes better.
[rant on]
OK, I’ve just about had it with loud proclamations about bizarre & absurd ideas like this thread’s. We’ve got a nation of over 300,000,000 people; we don’t have to be made aware of the rantings of every crackpot with a microphone or website. It’s just contributing to the “news fatigue”, where stuff that actually matters gets a shrug because it’s just another in a long line of shocking/outrageous reasoning with almost zero perspective on its context & following, akin to giving every “demonstration” the low-and-close photo angle making a 10-person “crowd” look like a force to be reckoned with.
Trying to keep tabs on real news without getting sucked into BS is like trying to move Br’er Fox’s tar baby. I don’t want to touch it lest I get stuck, but I still have to know what’s going on. I’ve given up on Drudge for that reason, MSM is akin to the LaBrea Tar Pits, and even FR is getting rather sticky. I come here to find & follow topics that matter, but still have to wade thru hyped insanity. ARGH!
I keep thinking there should be (and maybe I should start) a curator website featuring “100 News Topics You Must Follow”, avoiding the inconsequential crap (like this thread’s lead story; don’t get me wrong, it’s viscerally entertaining like a road accident) and keeping an eye on stuff that matters but comes-and-goes over long periods.
[rant off]
‘scuze me. Shutting up now.
If you laid all of the feminists in the world end to end, it would be the best thing that ever happened to them.
yes a divorce, where âsheâ takes 50% of the family assets and a comfortable monthly allowance, so she can live in the manner in which she is accustomed......
