Begin with the end in mind Im not trying to convince anyone that Donald Trump is running a campaign to actually win the GOP nomination.
Factually, Im as uncertain and perhaps more skeptical as the next person. However, given that Trump has actually done things he normally wouldnt do if this was a mere publicity stunt (ie. stock divestitures, removal of conflicts etc.), for the sake of intellectual argument, Im going to assume, cautiously yet optimistically, hes in it to win it.
Argument #1 After all, hes been a democrat, an independent, a Republican, and well, I have consistently despised Charlie Crist.
Counter Argument Then again, what about Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, and Orin Hatch, and Lindsey Graham, and John McCain, and John Cornyn, and Thad Cochran and, well, you get the point . Whats the difference between supporting those consistently Republican Republicans only to have them advocate for liberal/progressive policies.
Are the aforementioned better because they didnt change party registration, yet act like Democrats?
Let me first explain something few fully comprehend and fewer still, are willing accept.
People like us rail against the establishment because, despite the GOP claims to the contrary, they never actually do anything to stop the liberal policy agenda. One only has to look at President Obamas veto record (four in 6.5 years) to accept that only legislation Obama agrees with is reaching his desk.
We gave the GOP the House (2010, 2012, 2014) and the Senate (2014) and yet we never have received a single benefit to the election victories We The People provided.
Why is that?

People like you are going to look really funny posting on here when The Donald's "campaign" self-destructs and blows itself up.
Thanks.
“People like you are going to look really funny posting on here when The Donald’s “campaign” self-destructs and blows itself up.”
You are confusing your desires for a self-destruct for evidence that it will blow up. I can suggest with some certainty that if Trump believes what he is saying, and I think he does, he will NOT self-destruct.
This is a really, really good article. Thanks for posting it.
Remember the joke about the man who refused rescue.
LOL!
You’ve had almost 24 hours to read it. So, what did you think of the article?
BTW: I do not "desire" it to happen. I want Trump in this for as long as possible so that the political elites in this country (from BOTH parties)hear just how pissed off the American People are through Trump's mouth. There's zero doubt he speaks for a wide swath of the political electorate including those who identify as R's and D's.
Do you remember who the last Billionaire was that ran for President and was leading in the polls 6 months before the election, before he said and did something stupid?
That was Ross Perot. He blamed the Republican's for blackmailing him with "dirty pictures" of his daughter before her wedding as the reason he dropped out. And then, he tried re-starting his campaign in September of that year only to sink to 19.8% in the run up to the election.
Like Trump, people listened to Perot. He spoke for them, they liked him, and every time that man was on TV people didn't answer their doorbells. How do I know that? I was working in Illinois Politics back then running a large door to door crew and the thing we heard most often when people did answer their doors was "Perot's on TV I can't talk to you right now" and they'd shut their doors.
Trump is just 2016's Ross Perot. Eventually he'll say or do something stupid and derail his own campaign. Yes, even really smart people do stupid things.
You can run along now.
You are no conservative.
What's the matter? You can't handle the fact I read the article and summarized it up into one clean, concise sentence and have a different opinion than you? ROFL!!!
Run along now sweetie. The grown-ups are here.
“Do you remember who the last Billionaire was that ran for President and was leading in the polls 6 months before the election, before he said and did something stupid?”
Wait a minute. It does not follow that the fact that they are both billionaires makes them of one and the same mentality.
“Trump is just 2016’s Ross Perot. Eventually he’ll say or do something stupid and derail his own campaign. Yes, even really smart people do stupid things. “
Your post is a good one. Your concern is well placed, however I don’t its quite as much the danger as with Perot. Why: because I think Trump has actually put far more thought into this than Perot did. And Trump, contrary to his public persona, I believe is a deeper thinker and more stable than Perot.
I think its pretty clear that Trump has been considering this for 6 to 7 years. Perhaps more. He wrote a book in 2011 that was intended as his campaign polemic. For reasons that were apparently good enough for him he decided not to run in 2012. That doesn’t exemplify a rashness of character.
