Why I Support Donald Trump’s Campaign – And It’s Probably Not What You Think…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | July 13, 2015 | sundance

Posted on 07/14/2015 7:01:59 PM PDT by Art in Idaho

Begin with the end in mind – I’m not trying to convince anyone that Donald Trump is running a campaign to actually win the GOP nomination.

Factually, I’m as uncertain and perhaps more skeptical as the next person. However, given that Trump has actually done things he normally wouldn’t do if this was a mere publicity stunt (ie. stock divestitures, removal of conflicts etc.), for the sake of intellectual argument, I’m going to assume, cautiously yet optimistically, he’s in it to win it.

Argument #1 – After all, he’s been a democrat, an independent, a Republican, and well, I have consistently despised Charlie Crist.

Counter Argument – Then again, what about Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, and Orin Hatch, and Lindsey Graham, and John McCain, and John Cornyn, and Thad Cochran and, well, you get the point…. What’s the difference between supporting those consistently Republican “Republicans” only to have them advocate for liberal/progressive policies.

Are the aforementioned better because they didn’t change party registration, yet act like Democrats?

Let me first explain something few fully comprehend – and fewer still, are willing accept.

People like us rail against the “establishment” because, despite the GOP claims to the contrary, they never actually do anything to stop the liberal policy agenda. One only has to look at President Obama’s veto record (four in 6.5 years) to accept that only legislation Obama agrees with is reaching his desk.

We gave the GOP the House (2010, 2012, 2014) and the Senate (2014) and yet we never have received a single benefit to the election victories We The People provided.

Why is that?

He survived what woulda busted me

Mostly cause he was big enough to be allowed to renegotiate debt and go non accrual on debt servicing for a while

But he made those deals with some big cocky banks

That is talent trust me.....you get poor debt coverage ration say below 1.2 and banks beat your ass up and take advantage

They are not your pal

And he deals with unions and foreign country issues etc

Ideology might be weak but heart and acumen sure ain’t

A Trump President would not be boaring—he would get things done—The Mexico wall alone will take time—rebuilding the Navy, the Air Force and Army. Junking Obamacare and replacing it-—crushing IS. All of this will keep him busy. He may well serve only one term—then let Ted Cruz finish the job of rebuilding the Nation. My bet—people will be carving his face on mountains when he’s done.

Trump seems serious enough and is making things interesting - he has now made my short list behind Cruz and Walker and is poised to jump to #2 ahead of Walker if he keeps going the way he is (the meeting with Cruz may prove interesting).

.

All the candidates are bs artists who lecture us on what needs to be done and they accomplish nothing.

Sorry, your comment doesn't apply to either Ted Cruz (my choice) or to Scott Walker (to be fair) ...

Trump's campaign is a good thing, however ... it's the perfect foil to derail Jeb, Rubio and Karl Rove ...

I know a thing or two about Florida politics and Jeb Bush ...

The national media paint Jeb and Marco as "Florida's Political Supermen" ... that is pure Karl Rove political propaganda ...

Colonel Allen West for Secretary of Defense.

Cruz for the Supreme Court.

Fine. My thought was Cruz for VP, then named to SCOTUS at the first opportunity. That was in the context of a Walker presidential candidacy, when I thought that Cruz would provide needed rhetorical firepower in the general election.
Thomas Sowell for Health Education and Welfare.
Unfortunately, Prof. Sowell is 85 yo. And, HEW is no more - Education is now a separate Department - one which should be abolished and have a stake driven thru its heart.
Likewise the recommendation of Palin for Secretary of Energy - in reality it’s the Department of No Energy, and should not be given a strong manager but rather should be abolished. Palin for Department of the Interior - or VP - would be worthwhile.

Most or all of the presently declared candidates for the Republican nomination have fine executive credentials to be department heads. The trouble is that the need is for people to downsize or eliminate their departments. EPA, anyone? FDA?

I'm still not really trusting Trump because of his past pronouncements and positions, but I love what he's saying and doing to the race.

There are some mysteries about Trump's run, but this article did make me want to look closer.

You have some of the same.
Initially we were just trying to fit candidates into positions without adding others
All were if they didn’t get the P or VP nomination
We did mention both
Palin in Energy
West Defense

We came up with
Cruz at AG until appointed to SC
Dr Ben Health and Human Resource
Perry FEMA or the borders
Carly Commerce
Walker Labor
Jindal education
Paul finance fed reserve
Santorum revise irs
Christy roads and bridges ;-)
Rubio & graham. Should go back to senate

We assume Trump would go back to making a few more billion
That leaves Bush Pataki etc who we really didn’t try to place

I like some of your other suggestions. Some would be awesome but may not be interested. Most take a pay cut to serve us.

We had discussed Palin dismantling energy but I like her better in Interior

You are right about Sorrels.

The trick is not to make a bigger tent, that will take care of itself if we can introduce the people to come into it. Donald Trump does not have the range or the grasp of conservatism to be the man to do that.

I agree.

Thank you for your insightful analysis. It always is interesting reading.

I’ve seen some of the establishment come out crying, saying Trump is really a democrat. I had to laugh. Yeah, so is congress. So are all those a-holes who promised once they got elected, they would really go after Obama.

Since the election, Boehner really showed his true colors and his well worn knees. He did such a good job pleasing Obama that O’Dumbo let him ride his air plane.

That apes my view at this juncture as well

The GOP establishment is as we speak seeking to destroy him

The media won’t beat him too bad unless the wins nomination cause he attracts viewers like a virgin at a Visogoth bbq

Makes me happy just thinking about their discomfort and unhappiness, because I think deep down inside Trump is the one Pub candidate they are most afraid of.

You want to see heads spin faster than the Exorcist. Try Trump/Palin! The whole country would go absolutely (pick your word or phrase. : )

But do not be deceived, the man is not a conservative and he is not fit to lead the conservative cause.

The big wild card is how he would govern. I certainly agree with your concern about his traits. Now if he could continue hammering the message and Cruz get the nomination. . with Palin as VP.

I agree the article was depressing in some respects. If the whole process is so scripted, why bother?

That's exactly the point though. We the People can still make a difference if we are informed. This article is a start. The machine can be confronted. Trump seems to have insight in how the machine works. If nothing else, he should help Cruz fight and maybe shake up their scripted plan. I hope their meeting in NYC today is constructive. I also hope both read this article. Hey staffers, show the article to Donald and Ted! . not that they don't know the contents already. . or maybe not.
