Its really weird to see one of the more masculine and patriarchal professional sports keep making politically correct steps to convince America that it isnt masculine and patriarchal. I guess this year theyre gonna ramp it up with the first ever LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) celebration! And of course it had to be the Detroit Lions:
The Detroit Lions are set to host what is believed to be the NFLs first LGBT night, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
The Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce says it will hold a pride event during the Lions game against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 25 at Ford Field. It would follow similar LGBT pride events already held by the organization at Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers games since December.
CEO James Felton Keith said his group will have access to a block of upper-level tickets plus rooftop seating. In addition, he said, the group will be acknowledged during the game on the scoreboard or in some other way, adding that the Lions will help find corporate sponsorship for the event and a pregame tailgate party.

Wow... No kidding.
I caught a quick glimpse of a neighbors folded copy of the San Francriso Chronicle..... the day after the Sooopremes voted to force “gay” marriage” on America.
All I saw was the word WE..”weighing in at nearly a half a foot “tall”..and below that ....the stinking “rainbow flag.
I already hate the week they have to wear pink for breast cancer. I am going to go ballistic when they have to wear rainbow crap for fags and dykes.
Thank God it wasn’t my Bears! Although with the way things are going we’ll probably have a rainbow month in the NFL for the homos.
If the the pink is for breast cancer, it may be the Susan Komen Foundation, who also give a portion of all their charitable contributions for cancer research to the abortion mills of Planned Parenthood.
It’s always in the small print when it is the Komen Fndtn.
Nothing is as it seems anymore.
I look forward to seeing the stadium at 1% capacity.
I’m only surprised that the Minnesota Viqueens didn’t beat them to it.
He’ll be a wide receiver soon.
:: and a pregame tailgate party ::
You can’t make this shit up!
Crip, please pass the eye-bleach for the image in my head...
No, it's not weird if you understand that ownership of just about all teams in the major professional leagues consists almost entirely of leftists (the epitome of crony capitalists). Pick an owner of an NFL team or MLB team or NBA team, for example, and look up who his political contributions are going to. That will give you a good idea of what I'm saying.
They generally won't let a known conservative into their ownership gang, even if he is adequately capitalized and is a well-respected citizen. The case of Rush Limbaugh a few years ago proves that.
So leftist ownership produces a product of leftist sensibilities, e.g., honoring gays, just a night follows day.
It didn't have to be the Lions. It could have been just about any team in any of the major pro sports.
Slowly people are starting to realize that what you are saying is true.
Not anymore.
There aren’t that many gays in Michigan and our legislature was against “gay” adoptions and WE voted against the “gay” marriage. So having this stupid bash in Michigan is a purposeful face slap.
It doesn't matter. Just about all the ownerships of NFL teams are leftist. If things keep going the same way, and there is no obvious resistance, all NFL, MLB, and NBA teams will have events such as this.
Ugh...they will lose me at that point.
I just don’t see the need to do this. They must realize they’re alienating a large portion of their fan base. What does sexuality have to do with football?? ...they’re in your face too much and proving they’re not normal.
justiceseeker, you are correct about the leftist slant of professional sports. Like every other institution, the left penetrated it and have co-opted professional sports to suit their social and political agenda. It is particularly pronounced in sports predominated by black American players.
I first noticed this trend back in the early 1980s when I was a subscriber to Sports Illustrated. I allowed my subscription to lapse because the articles began reading more like op-ed pieces, and I was not in favor of the opinions they were promoting.
After dropping Sports Illustrated I picked up a subscription to The Sporting News; in the days before the internet, there was no better source for baseball standings, statistics, and stories. They provided good NFL coverage as well. But by the late 1980s, I was noticing that the writers were using the sports venue as a vehicle to push for “social justice.” Although the black writers were most vocal, all of the contributors in some way or another followed the Party Line. Around 1993, that subscription lapsed as well.
So as with most leftist penetration, it began by dominating the organs of the sports media, the official propaganda mouthpiece of the American left. At least by the year 2000, the official propaganda line had become so pervasive that leftist dogma became institutionally accepted truth across the sports spectrum. Every sports story now must pay some sort of homage to the leftist agenda, whether it is showing support for the homosexuals, fellating 0bama, espousing “equality” or attacking “racism.”
Major sports franchise owners are generally not stupid people. Rich and degenerate, yes, but not stupid. They know that image means money in their line of work perhaps more than any other. It is, after all, just entertainment wrapped in a different guise. Since the prevailing winds blew left, they tacked with the wind and went along. They like the positive press they get for promoting the politically correct causes. Whether they truly believe the leftist drivel or not, it gets them money without a hassle and that’s how they roll.
