Racial motive expressed?
I dont even know what to say in the course of presenting news like this. I suppose we just wait to learn what - if anything - might have been the motivation of the 21-year-old mass murderer. We dont know if he knew anyone there or had any sort of connection to the church or the pastor. We dont even know who he is, at least not for sure, as he remains at large. We just know he walked in and opened fire, and now nine people are dead, including the pastor, who was also a South Carolina state senator.
Pray for the families of the victims at Emanuel AME, and for those who now have the heartbreaking job of raising this church from the ashes of this evil:
Among the dead was the churchs pastor, state Sen. Clementa Pinckney, 41, who had been a pastor since he was 18. Pinckney was the youngest African-American elected to the South Carolina legislature when he won office in 1996 at age 23 and had been a state senator since 2000.
Soon after Wednesday nights shooting, a group of pastors huddled together praying in a circle across the street. Community organizer Christopher Cason told the Associated Press he felt certain the shootings were racially motivated.

Not possible. Churches in South Carolina are “gun free” zones. He couldn’t have brought a gun in there.
The commentariat is seizing on the racial angle.
Nobody want to consider the possibility of an anti-Christian animus.
You are correct. Also, as I just posted on another thread, we will never know what prescriptions he was taking. Did we ever find out what the theater and Sandy Hook shooters were legally taking?
Again? How many times is this going to happen this week?
The pastors hold a prayer circle. The “community organizer” shows up to shoot off his mouth in front of the first camera.
Prayers for all.
Can I just say something? Hope not to be flamed or misunderstood.
Anyone searching for logic or the reason why this happened will be disappointed. There is not going to be any logical reason why this shooter did what he did. We will probably see the gun control debate take center stage again due to this.
I’m trying to say that there is no understandable reasoning ability on the part on a mass shooter.
It took them 2 seconds to call it a Hate Crime and watch Obama and Lynch add some spice and try to stir this for all it’s worth
How can the author state that the gunman was age 21?
This case is an excellent example of why the death penalty is still very necessary.
Also the case in NY where the two murderers escaped a supposedly high security prison.
And the Boston terrorist bomber.
This is no time to be getting rid of the death penalty Nebraska.
Or consider that a black Republican state legislator was among the victims.
Thank you Ferguson and Baltimore.
Pray America is waking
Sounds like he’s been caught. (Twitter)
Think there will be New Black Panther Party retaliation?
A guy with black friends and pix of him with his black friends is not going to go kill blacks because they are black.
But he might well kill them if he hates Christians. Or is a Muslim. Or Gay. But whatever he is, it isn’t a racist.
People are already playing the mentally ill angle because it’s a white dude I see.
People on drugs or just having a bad life could be easily persuaded to do ‘things’.
My first thought was that this was a queer who hated Christian teachings against homosexuality. Looking at his picture, I am still thinking this.
Looking at the fact that he shot six women and only three men, also supports this theory.
Judging by the fact that he spent an hour talking to them before shooting also tends to discredit the racial animus angle.
