Pobody's Nerfect.
On Monday afternoon, Bloomberg Politics editor and MSNBC senior burrito correspondent Mark Halperin apologized for an interview two weeks ago in which he ham-handedly quizzed Senator and 2016 presidential hopeful Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his Cuban heritage.
In the interview Halperin questioned Cruz on his Hispanic appeal, even his consumption of Cuban dishes, and offered to let Cruz welcome Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders to the race en Español.
The interview flew under the radar until it was torn to shreds by San Jose Mercury-News columnist Ruben Navarrette this weekend. As a Hispanic, I felt like I was watching a college fraternity have fun with racial stereotypes, like when staging a border party where people show up in serapes and fake mustaches, Navarrette wrote, unleashing the hounds.
Heres Halperins apology in full:
Can’t wait to see what happens when some male “journalist” tell Hillary! to make him a sandwich.
Mark is just sorry he got called on it. Has nothing to do with His tone. It was exactly as intended.
FUMH
Dear Mr Halperin you pathetic two bit nitwit you expect us to BUY your apology?
BTW your mom never liked you!!
Worst “apology” ever. It has that “fine just tell them something to shut them up” tone to it.
In no way was I asking Senator Cruz to “prove” he was an “authentic” Latino.
No Mark, you lying sack of worm casings. You were trying to get your audience to do that work for you. Right?
Light-hearted banter my a$$. Tone and poor timing. Humpffff.
What conservative in their right mind expects anything light-hearted and good-natured ‘banter’ from the rabid liberal zealots at MSNBC?
It was a self-serving apology that just couldn’t even admit a smidgeon of the enmity that MSNBC has for Cruz or any other conservative.
My guess is their one viewer called up and complained about the interview.
She’ll kick the s%$ out of him
Halperin Crash & Burn. Even the apology is not very convincing, but that will be lost on the liberal mindset.
....musta been some latino backwash.......
Where’s the apology?
Big difference between saying “I’m sorry you were offended” and “I’m sorry I offended you”.
Did Halprin ever ask Obama to speak some Swahili or Malay on camera?
Obama’s father and stepfather did, so it seems a valid question if Cruz was asked to do the same thing.
Did Halperin ever ask Obama if he was black enough?
Halperin can wax and wane. He was thrown off MSNBC for awhile after calling Obama a “dick” and yet seemed to ask Cruz his opinion of the food at Taco Bell. I’ve gotta watch this interview on You Tube.
Not to conservative candidates: don’t let the mainstream media interview you! Or make sure it is live and cannot be edited.
Interesting
“What’s your favorite soul food?”
Seriously, though, I’m sure Obama had all the black identity stuff down, because he probably had to deal with the “authentically black” crap all his life.

What does that mean?
He is only apologizing to a select few (Hispanics)...but for the rest of the people, he is not apologizing?
If he is mocking Hispanics, I don't take personal offense to it...does that mean that he's telling me that he's not sorry for what he said?
"I meant what I said, but for those who got their feeling hurt...Ok, Ok, I'm sooorrry!...feel better now?"
Could he get away with the same "apology" if he had mocked a queer?
apologized for an interview two weeks agoToo little, too late, SHILL.
If Halprin had inquired about Barky’s parentage, you’d have never heard the end of it. What a jerk !
