On the first day we saw the North Charleston, South Carolina, shooting video of Walter Scott by Officer Michael Slager we were as shocked as everyone. However, as research now indicates there is much more to the story.
What we cover here in the latest update might just change the entire way the story continues

I totally, absolutely, without reservation ...agree with Caipirabob.
Wait for the facts....ALL facts....not the media version.
Thanks for posting this, I Ching.
“How do you know he didnt reload the cartridge? There was ample time. Read the post.”
Complete speculation.
BTW it wasnt a blog that exonerated Zimmerman...it was a court of law and a jury.
Slager will have his day in court...then we will see all the evidence.
Here is my prediction...Slager will plead to a lesser charge of manslaughter.
If you bother to analyze what is presented, he actually has a defense. If he was merely wrong, made a bad mistake, he is NOT guilty of murder. And there’s enough presented here to at least consider whether he had diminished capacity, legit fear, etc.
Where did I do that? I posited contingencies, that’s all.
If Scott was tangled in the wires, inhibiting his attempt to flee, it certainly made the cold shoot much easier to accomplish.
Zimmerman’s defense team learned of the superb analysis being done by The Conservative Treehouse and began reading the site every day to help defend Zimmerman. This is documented by Jack Cashill in many articles and in his book, “If I Had a Son — Race, Guns, and the Railroading of George Zimmerman.” The Treehouse won the most influential conservative blog award that year.
Right, exploring all mitigating factors is just nonsense, better to just fry the guy
Uh huh.
Prove otherwise.
You know, I have seen people grasp at straws in my time, but this grasping at straws borders on comical. If the results weren't so deadly, I'd probably be laughing at this whole posting. If you were a cop, I thank God in His most Glory you are no longer "enforcing the law", because I shudder to think of the scenarios you may concoct to reduce the world population in the course of you duties.
CT IS legit and thanks for posting. I have read and am digesting the various arguments. I’ll toss this into the mic.
Slager’s first att’y resigned the case in the wake of the video. Why did he do that?
Did Slager withhold information from his own lawyer? Or did he tell all and the attorney decide he wanted no part of a losing case?
Interesting pic of Slager’s pant leg pulled up. Wonder what he was pointing out about his leg.
Freudian slip, there?
He's dead.
I suspect IChing might find "mitigating circumstances" to justify the officer plugging that dead man.
Thanks for that link! It’s good to know that there are still questions and issues beyond the “open and shut” murder conviction by the media.
The issue now is whether a LEO is justified in shooting a fleeing felon who refuses to stop — assuming that assaulting a LEO is a felony in that state. If so, the officer will be exonerated of any wrongdoing.
I would comment negatively on the attitudes some folks display here, but that might be incorrectly conscrewed as ‘trolling’ rather than constructive criticism.
And then there's this:
Graham holds that any determination of the reasonableness of a particular seizure under the Fourth Amendments prohibition of unreasonable searches and seizures must be judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer at the scene, rather than with the vision of 20-20 hindsight (of say, a non-police officer sitting on a jury). Graham also mandates that the seizure (of Scott), be judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer who might have been at the scene of the shooting, and not some otherwise reasonable person who does not share the law enforcement pedigree and worldview. The way people feel when they have the benefit of hindsight sitting in their easy chair won't be the legal standard used at trial.

Who said this is identical to those two cases?
Do you deny that there are or at least may be mitigating factors which allow reasonable doubt on murder charge?
I will bet you Slager beats the murder rap, I have said from the start this is voluntary manslaughter at MOST, and now looks to be maybe less than that.
The Conservative Treehouse as always does superb analysis.
I still can not justify, to my satisfaction, the shooting of this fellow in the back.
We need to be a little careful with this “game changer” from The Conservative Treehouse. Any fact that could possibly exonerate or show mitigating circumstances in the case against Officer Michael Slager could interrupt the narrative of POlice killing innocent black men and possibly a perfectly good lynching.
