My, what a difference two and a half years and a nasty, self righteous video by a nasty, self righteous man make. In the summer of 2012, an individual who could only accept diversity, pluralism and multi culturalism as long as it agreed with his politically correct notions, posted a video of himself harassing a Chick-Fil-A order taker on Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. That was the day those who actually believed in diversity, pluralism and multi culturalism chose to support the fast food chain against those who disagreed with the founder who opposed gay marriage. The founder didn't say he would fire gay people or those who were involved in this type of union, merely he didn't agree with it. Hot air ensued.
Although I had never eaten at any of the chain's restaurants because as a Jew who keeps kosher (biblically mandated, rabbinically interpreted food laws) I couldn't eat their specialties, I decided to lend my support to Chick-Fil-A that day by going to the closest one and ordering a soft drink. I then wrote about my excellent kosher adventure. No I didn't video it and no, I certainly didn't bother the pleasant young man taking my small order.

He thought he would be a hero to all his liberal friends, by telling off the hired help, and posting it on you tube. He was so proud of himself by his self righteous demonstration of support for homosexual marriage.
What’s lost in all this is why he got fired. He got fired because he had an executive position in a company. He had an employment contract. He violated his contract by bringing such bad publicity on himself and his company. That’s why he was terminated. He brought it all on himself. He violated his employment contract.
But the liberal view is that we are supposed to feel sorry for him because he has poor judgement and is a loose cannon, but we are supposed to let that go, because he supports homosexual marriage. If you support a liberal cause, then all is forgiven.
I would like to ask liberals and some people here too, who say he’s been punished enough:
Would you have the same opinion if he went in a Starbucks or other company which explicitly supports homosexuality, and started bitching to the hired help against homosexuality and homosexual marriage? What if he went somewhere and made racist comments? Would you still feel he is a victim?
I think you got it right! Hope you're feeling bettah!
Headline is misleading... should be, “Rich guy who videoed abuse of low income worker now finds out how public assistance works.” Or that would be the headline if it was a conservative who did it. Instead, the headline is sympathetic to his plight. I’ll still bet that his RV is still worth far more than my assets.
The most bizarre part is that he’s willing to take handouts, but too proud to take a common job.
He’s already proven himself to future employers. He made sure it’s there for all to see. I wouldn’t hire him because he showed that he has no idea how a corporation works. His complaints should have been directed to management.
Thanks. Appreciate the compliment.
Yeah the guy had a big mouth, but the punishment is excessive for the crime of being a bozo. Why cant he find another job?
He verbally attacked the young woman and recorded his actions. Then he shared it with the world.
Would you hire someone with a public record of such poor decision making and lack of self control?
I was taught from a very young age to treat others like you want to be treated. I do not care what kind of job a person has as long as it is honest work. Someone posted on FB that we never ever know if we just might need their help long life’s journey. I may be saying this all wrong but you get my idea.
Good point. He wants to get another executive position. But is having no luck at that level.
As a CFO, he has accounting skills which could get him into an accounting supervisor or controller type of job. But he apparently feels that this is beneath him. Such jobs might pay in the area of $80K. Which I realize is a big drop from the $200K plus stock options. But the point is, he could find work which would enable him to support the family and pay his bills.
But for whatever reason, he has chosen not to seek lower level jobs in the financial area.
There are consequences to our actions in life. This dude has learned a very hard lesson. Nobody owes him another $200k per year job because of his own actions causing him to lose the last one.
It’s like someone killing their parents and whining that they are an orphan.
I agree and felt much the same when I saw this on FR the other day. Maybe the guy is still a jerk, I don’t know, but I can’t get off on his and his family’s misery. Not good for the soul, IMO.
Leave him be,....Why? Has the left allowed Sarah be? George Bush? Joe McCarthy? Dan Quayle? Anybody else they have targeted for much less egregious acts than being a bully? STOP THE BULLYING ( a favorite leftist money drawing cause) and you defend the asshat?
Fine, leave him be, just don't want him in my company.
31 reviews for a total of 1.3 stars although the author says he only sold 17 books (when there were 23 reviews). From Amazon “Million Dollar Cup of Water: Discovering the Wealth in Authenticity”
About the author: Adam Mark Smith is simply like you, a human being. He listened to a voice within him to write this book, a book that crystallized the healing process of both an abusive and lovely childhood, his admirable business career, the global public shaming he endured after protesting for gay rights in a less than mindful manner, and what he learned when he finally accepted it all. Adam loves dating his wife of 18 years and playing with his four sons by coaching their Little League teams, learning new tricks on the trampoline, riding bikes, wrestling, and falling off their skateboards. Now currently looking for his next career opportunity, Adam has held various roles in investment banking, accounting, and corporate finance at companies, including Intel, DLJ LA, KPMG, IBM, and of course, Vante. He is a certified life coach, has taught courses at the University of Arizona and Portland State University, and holds an MBA and CPA. Adam inspires others to lead their business and personal lives with authenticity, a heart of service, and courage to question their learned beliefs.
Snip from About the book: Finding balance between work and home, Adam settled into a rewarding life with a job he loved and an expanding family that gave it all meaning . . . until he made the choice to stand up for the rights of someone else. His now infamous protest began with the painful renouncement of many of the religious teachings that once formed his world view yet no longer made sense, and ended with the even more devastating surrender of his sense of safety and security.
As the journey continues, Adam has found that instead of seeking the ever-moving bar of financial success and approval of others, building the great personal wealth that comes from embracing imperfections and living an authentic life is worth any price.
Some people make it sound as if he has a constitutional right to a $200K per year plus stock options compensation package in a job.
If nobody wants to hire him, whose fault is that? And is he really being discriminated against?
Not good for the soul, IMO......No, but it might enhance his maturity.
If I were a wagering woman, I'd wager 25 cents that he's a jerk who sucks up to superiors and steps on the heads of subordinates. Ain't nobody got time for that.
We used to be able to spout off without getting destroyed.
“Spouting off” or as we called it “farting off” is still possible. Verbally abusing a young woman and sharing it with the world goes beyond “spouting off.”
Would you want him in your organization?
Well if he is humbled enough he might seek redemption from his sin. He might save himself.
At this point would you trade places with him on judgment day?
I don’t know of a single person on FreeRepublic who is bullying this guy. They mock his whining, point out that his MBA would qualify him for many jobs, yet he still demands a position comparable to the one he tossed away.
Would anyone here call up H&R Block and demand they fire him for working on tax forms? I sincerely doubt it.
He continues to compound his bad decisions, and I hope for the good of his family since his book has flopped that he gets a real job and exits the fantasy world he has built for himself.
