Pretty damn impressive...
- Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 - May 2008, Cruz was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the entire country, not to mention the longest tenure in Texas history.
- Partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he led the firms U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.
- Cruz has authored 80+ SCOTUS briefs and presented 40+ oral arguments before The Court
- Cruz served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Cruz was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for a Chief Justice of the United States
- Described as a 'superb' constitutional lawyer, the man's considerable skills and laser-like focus were on display for all when he took oily reptile Eric Holder by the neck and made him
answer the damn question.
- In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.
- Cruz presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
- In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the majority of the 2003 Texas redistricting plan. Cruz also successfully defended, in Medellin v. Texas, the State of Texas against an attempt by the International Court of Justice to re-open the criminal convictions of 51 murderers on death row throughout the United States.
- Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission
- Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
- Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation
-
Ted Cruz is currently junior US Senator from Texas. In order to win the 2012 Republican nomination for the Senate seat vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison, Cruz had to defeat Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst -heavily favored/backed by the DC old-guard GOP- in the Republican primary runoff. In the event, TEA Party favorite Cruz crushed Dewhurst, 57-43%... he then beat Democrat Paul Sadler in the general election by a similar margin, 56-41. Cruz is also endorsed by the Tea Party Movement and the Republican Liberty Caucus.
- AWARDS: "America's Leading Lawyers for Business," Chambers USA (2009 & 2010) "50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America," National Law Journal (2008) "25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century," Texas Lawyer (2010) "20 Young Hispanic Americans on the Rise," Newsweek (1999) Traphagen Distinguished Alumnus, Harvard Law School
- On November 14, 2012, Cruz was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He is now spearheading efforts in the Senate to have root-and-branch...

Reading his resume, one can wonder why George W. Bush’s first two picks for the Supreme Court were John Roberts and Harriet Miers. Imagine if Cruz was on the Court instead of Obama. We wouldn’t have Obamacare.
Another reason not to vote for Jeb.

To the media a Moderate Republican is one who will reach across the aisle and vote with Democrats...A Moderate Democrat is one who will reach across the aisle and thank the Republican for voting with the Democrats.

He’s not a “natural born citizen”
I’ve said it before, and will say it again:
If there is any doubt about his citizenship, like where was he born? What is the citizenship of his parents? etc... etc... etc... then he fails.
Cruz, as much as you love him, fails on both fronts.

If Cruz became president would Boehner grow a spine or would he reach across the aisle to defeat extremism? Before he grows a spine, he needs to grow a pair or maybe see if he can purchase some used ones.

Hes not a natural born citizen Ive said it before, and will say it againYes, you've said it, but obama said I could keep my doc.
Your words do not make it so and every time you ramble on, you cannot point to the section, paragraph or line in the Constitution that supports your untenable position.

So you want AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT who was born in Canada?
Believe me, I’m from upstate NY and have known many people from Canada, esp. women.
But NONE of them are eligible.

He has degrees and indications of real grades unlike the current occupant:
After graduating from Princeton, Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree.

A lot of hurdles, and a lot of discussion. I predict the large hispanic bloc of voters will come to his aid in the end.

There are plenty of things left unexplained by the Constitution.
For one, “general welfare”.
For two, “natural born”.
So despite your attempts, I don’t feel a bit bad about loving what Ted Cruz has to say and hating his attempts at presidency.

Do you think this brilliant man with this stunning resume hasn’t made certain that he qualifies as a candidate? The Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue and because his mother is an American, he is a “natural born citizen.”
To: djf
Unfortunately, Obama set the precedent that makes Cruz eligible.

Ted Cruz is one of those Christian fundamentalists who, if he becomes President, will round up all the atheists and burn them, then impose his religion on everyone else.Liberals should be overjoyed Ted Cruz is running for (and hopefully will win the Presdency and restore order). They could have me in that office. You think I'm joking about what would be enacted no matter what it took. I'd make Lee Yuan Kew look like a schoolboy and wouldn't apologize either.

It is nothing against the man. He is a great champion of conservatism. Those who do not want to hear anymore about the eligibility issues, are really saying the Constitution is dated, an old document that only is cited when you agree with it. This is 0bummer’s approach. Think about this. We know 0bummer is allowing in large numbers of Islamic Syrians today. If one of those Muslims marries an American woman, then gets naturalized through her, has a child, by the American woman, raises the child under strict Muslim sharia beliefs, is that child eligible to be president in 35 years? You better think about it because this scenario is playing out as we speak. Internal subversion through creeping sharia. Some say we are already there with the fraud in the WH, but in the Cruz scenario it is viewed as ‘Constitutional.’ The framers wanted at least one complete generation of both American born parents to ward against this subversion. Dumb idea?
