One gallon of jet fuel burned creates about 19 pounds of C02. A 747 burns about 25,000 pounds of fuel per hour. A round trip from Washington DC to LA would take about 11- 11 1/2 hours. That comes to about 287,000 pounds of fuel. And that results in the production of about 5,462,500 pounds of CO2.
A 757 burns about 6,000 pounds of jet fuel per hour. A similar round trip to LA would burn about 69,000 pounds of fuel and create about 1,310,000 pounds of CO2.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama both traveled to Los Angeles on the same day on separate aircraft for something of grave importance- appearances on talk shows.
Barack Obama flew out to LA and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel.
Michelle Obama took a separate aircraft to LA and appeared on "Ellen."
When asked about this
White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz told reporters Friday that the president and first ladys schedules were not in sync in order to travel together. In order to pin the cost of his frivolity on the US taxpayer Obama made a cameo appearance at a VA hospital in Phoenix that has been the subject of much attention.Im not even sure they overlapped, he said when asked if the president and first lady saw each other in southern California Thursday.
Together they spewed 6,773,500 pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere for completely unserious reasons.
Let's consider the excuses offered for this excess pollution.

Do you have a link to that data?
Isn’t it wonderful that those of us who pay taxes are financing all their travel. They better enjoy it now, because in two more years, they will have to pay their own way. Oh, the horror!
The statement was poorly phrased and thus subject to being easily misunderstood.
A more accurate statement would be: One gallon of jet fuel, when burned with the addition of oxygen, creates a combined total of about 19 pounds of C02.
I think she takes her own plane so there is no media to see her stuff her face with junk food, ribs and fried chicken.
Do you have a link to that data?
They will never pay their own way. All future trips will be to speaking engagements where their expenses are covered, or "Obama Foundation" trips which will be tax deductible.
Do you really think they like each other enough to want to travel together if someone else is paying?
...and tons of O2 is provided by the incoming combustion air.
Sorry, I am just learning to use an iPad, and haven’t figured out how to copy and paste the post I’m respondin to
It is okay, thought, for them to take 2 planes to California, etc., because they are doing things to save the little people.
So what if it is going to cost those little people increased taxes; this is to help them.
Just like the starvation-type school lunches are designed to save kids from becoming obese. And don’t compare that with the Obama kids’ school lunches, because, well, they are above the little people.
So, eat your peas and shut up!

But who cares?
CO2 is good for vegetation, both on land and in the ocean.
It gives life a big boost, and that is a part of the reason that the Death Culture hates it.
According to the first sentence, a gallon of jet fuel creates about 19 pounds of CO2. That seems about right to me from the chemical equation for the reaction. A gallon of jet fuel weighs about 7 pounds. It is less dense than water.
Then the article says that 287,000 pouns of fuel results in 5,462,500 pounds of CO2.
Sorry, the math does not work. 7/19 is 2.71 pounds of CO2 per pound of fuel. So 287,000 pounds of fuel is 779,000 pounds of fuel, not 5,462,500.
There is no need to exaggerate to maike the point.
They probably had the Federal Government buy some Carbon Credits from Al Gore to make up for it.
No harm, no foul...
That’s true. I’m sure some of it is oxygen from external sources to burn the fuel, as far as I know the fuel is not oxygenated like rocket fuel
It’s settled science. The rich and affluent do not cause global warming.
Or
Maybe they bought Carbon Credits from Al Gore.
How does 7 pounds of liquid create 19 pounds of CO2?
How many BBQ grills is that?

The stupidity is amazing, isn’t it?
