Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Americans are ready for marriage equality

The 81-year-old justice discussed the public’s increasing acceptance of gays against the backdrop of resistance by Alabama officials to a federal court order that took effect Monday and made it the 37th gay-marriage state. With the high court set to rule on the issue by June, she said it “would not take a large adjustment” for Americans should the justices say that gay marriage is a constitutional right.

“The change in people’s attitudes on that issue has been enormous,” Ginsburg said. “In recent years, people have said, ‘This is the way I am.’ And others looked around, and we discovered it’s our next-door neighbor — we’re very fond of them. Or it’s our child’s best friend, or even our child. I think that as more and more people came out and said that ‘this is who I am,’ the rest of us recognized that they are one of us.”

The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in April in marriage equality cases from four states — Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee — whose same-sex marriage bans were upheld last year by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

A nationwide decision on the constitutionality of state same-sex marriage bans could come by June.

Same-sex marriage is legal in all by [sic] 13 states.

“..Same-sex marriage is legal in all by [sic] 13 states.”

Not by the choice of (most of) the voters.

Ginsburg is one of the ugliest women I’ve seen in my life...outside and in.

It’s hurts to look and to listen to her.

No, we are not.

It is impossible to have a marriage without a man and a woman. It is a vital part of THE ACTUAL DEFINITION of marriage.

I know the law does not concern itself with what words actually mean, but instead what a liberal’s inner vagina feels like something should be, but reality is reality.

We already have marriage equality. Everyone has the exact same right to marry someone of the opposite sex as everyone else. They don’t want equal rights. They want extra rights. So they can’t marry their queer questioning, transgender, cross dressing freak. Boo freaking hoo. It is little wonder that God is turning His back on us in a time of worldwide peril.

I liked it better when the Supreme Court Justices were quiet and never did anything in public. I wish all of them would go back to that. The only thing we need to know about them is their majority decision and minority decision. That is it. The supreme Court Justices have turned into celebrity want a be’s.

Maybe America is “ready” for same-sex marriage, maybe not. Ginsburg should not force it upon us as if she were some American version of Indira Gandhi or Cristina Kirchner, because in American thinking, there IS no “American version” of dictators or dictatoresses.

>And yes, she must recuse herself. Kagan also must recuse herself. They have both officiated at homo “marriages” - the only two sitting Supreme Court justices to perform ANY wedding.<

That’s not true... Justice Clarence Thomas officiated the the wedding of Limbaugh and this third wife.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Americans are ready for marriage equality

And since she won’t do the professional thing and recuse herself she’ll lie about the Constitution- come up with an interpretation that is repugnant to both it’s authors and ratifiers- and give it to them.

If the states amend the Constitution they need to include an amendment which gives the state legislatures the power to remove lawmakers, executives and justices on a 2/3 vote of the states, particularly justices who wrongly ignore 10th Amendment-protected state powers.

Ha Ha. And to think she was married! Think about that one but have a brew to calm your mind beforehand.
