Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Americans are ready for marriage equality

The 81-year-old justice discussed the public’s increasing acceptance of gays against the backdrop of resistance by Alabama officials to a federal court order that took effect Monday and made it the 37th gay-marriage state. With the high court set to rule on the issue by June, she said it “would not take a large adjustment” for Americans should the justices say that gay marriage is a constitutional right.

“The change in people’s attitudes on that issue has been enormous,” Ginsburg said. “In recent years, people have said, ‘This is the way I am.’ And others looked around, and we discovered it’s our next-door neighbor — we’re very fond of them. Or it’s our child’s best friend, or even our child. I think that as more and more people came out and said that ‘this is who I am,’ the rest of us recognized that they are one of us.”

The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in April in marriage equality cases from four states — Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee — whose same-sex marriage bans were upheld last year by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

A nationwide decision on the constitutionality of state same-sex marriage bans could come by June.

Same-sex marriage is legal in all by [sic] 13 states.

As Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage notes in a fundraising letter,
Justice Ginsburg must recuse herself to protect the integrity of the Court -- and the integrity of the decision in this case.

Federal law requires federal judges to disqualify themselves “in any proceeding” in which their impartiality might reasonably be questioned.

Recall when Justice Antonin Scalia spoke at a Knights of Columbus event and denounced a lower court's ruling on the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools.

The atheist in that case asked Justice Scalia to recuse himself from the case because of his comments. Justice Scalia honored his request.

Justice Ginsburg should do the same.

You do not speak for me Buzzie!

I do no, and will never accept sexual deviancy as "normal" and equal to normal sexuality.

Try to send to to a reeducation camp, and the fireworks start in earnest.

I am ready for the domestic enemy of the Constitution Ruth Bader Gingburg to be impeached, is what I am ready for. Calling the union of two sodomites “marriage”? It never will be, and God will judge this nation for trying it.

> “change in people’s attitudes”

A lie.

Federal judges have thwarted the will of the people in state after state.

And yes, she must recuse herself. Kagan also must recuse herself. They have both officiated at homo “marriages” - the only two sitting Supreme Court justices to perform ANY wedding.

Mayhap not, she has been espousing this crap for years. We can only hope she makes it for two more years, until a Republican President is in office ... then she can die or be committed to a home.

I think American’s are ready for a return to the founding principles.

Back when the states used their taxes to directly support churches.

Back when the states were strong and the central govt. was weak.

Back when good was not called evil and evil called good.

Spoken in the proud tradition of a constitutional relativist. Reminiscent of the comment of Sandra Day O’Connor that Affirmative Action would be needed “for about twenty five years’ and “during that time would be constitutional”. These activist judges frustrate voters and diminish not only respect for the Judiciary but the Constitution and democracy. Why vote if its up to some unelected judge anyway?

I like how she says “this is who these people are.” No, it isn’t who they are. It’s who they tell themselves they are. If you have a penis, it is for urination, and reproduction.

Last I checked, there is no uterus in a mans hindquarters. Therefore, how can it be who they are? Ruth? Face the truth, call a spade a spade. They are seriously mentally ill freaks preying on our children, and weak minded adults. Like you, Ruth. You senile old bat.
