I define moderate as not Minnesota in Winter or Texas in Summer.

lol....I live in near year round el perfecto weather, but behind enemy lines in CA, where the mentally ill are in charge.

Try Arkansas..

Love your weather, but couldn’t stand the government there.

You can't go wrong with Arizona if you pick the right town. I really don't think there is a better retirement destination in the USA. Summers aren't that bad - Phoenix at a dry 115 degrees is a whole lot more pleasant than a humid 95 in other parts of the country.

All the nasty things liberals (especially Californians) say about us amount to a glowing recommendation. :)

Costa Rica is not gun friendly...

“The government office that is responsible for oversight of weapon in Costa Rica is the Department of Arms and Explosives which is a division of the Ministry of Public Security and Police...

...The first thing you need to know is that only citizens of Costa Rica and Permanent Residents with valid permanent residency status are allowed to own, register or carry weapons in Costa Rica. If you have a Temporary Residency category you will be restricted...

...Confused ? That is the intent. Although the law allows the possession and ownership of weapons the reality is that from a governmental policy standpoint it is discouraging gun ownership by increasing the bureaucratic hurdles for those that want to legally purchase and own weapons in Costa Rica. You will more than likely need to hire somebody to guide you through the process gun registration process.”

115 is warm. But if you don’t have to work out in it or hump a rucksack in body armor , totally bearable.

Most FReepers apparently hate it, even without ever visiting it, but I love Hawaii.

I have a friend who just moved back to my neck of the woods after 11 years in Hawaii. He is a dark skinned Mexican American, but he told me that the native Hawaiians hate mainland Americans and that made it unbearable to live there.

Isn’t Phoenix still the kidnapping capitol of the US?

Only a problem if you owe money to the cartel guys who smuggled you into the country. Not aimed at random suburbanites.

Scottsdale is the best - and some parts are surprisingly affordable. It's not California, where all the tiny one-bedroom units have been pushed up to 500K.

There are good, newer neighborhoods in Gilbert (near Mesa) and Peoria (northwest), too.

Thought about Colorado Springs?

Semi-arid climate (Köppen BSk) - 17 inches of rain per year.
Just east of the Rocky Mountains
Rapid warming influence from chinook winds during winter but also has drastic day-to-day variability in weather
300 sunny days per year
Conservative - 5 military bases
Not sure about CO
And don’t forget legal pot! JK

Ditto here. You learn to accommodate them, but I still boil with rage at Obama/Biden 2008 & 2012 bumper stickers and have to tamp down the impulse to run them off the road. Same with the young skulls full of mush sporting COEXIST stickers.

But we’ve got a string of three or four 75 degree days lined up, so I take a deep breath and chant a few OMMMs.

Mississippi. More bang for your buck, except for the Delta and Jackson ethnics are not a problem and are civilized. Houses and land are reasonably priced, the weather is livable and the First and Second Amendments are respected.
