AP A Super Bowl ad for Jeep Renegade SUVs met a heated backlash Sunday night as outraged Americans took to social media to blast the company for flashing scenes of the Great Wall of China and other far-flung places around the globe as “This Land is Your Land” played in the background. “What kind of globalist bullshit is this?” wrote one YouTube commenter. “Who is in the advertising department?” asked another YouTube commenter. “Fire them. This is an American song. AMERICAN

That was the special set-aside H1B section of the Super Bowl. I’m not sure who they were rooting for, however. I’m suspecting Microsoft, er, Seattle.

Pretty funny that all these “patriots” are up in arms, defending an “AMERICAN” song written by a Communist!

At least, he was an AMERICAN Communist, I guess.

We bought a slightly used loaner Mercedes GLK 350 (”baby SUV”) weekend before last. I am SO lucky that great Mercedes commercial didn’t air before our purchase because I made a different choice that have really drained the bank account. “Honey, we’re selling the house and moving the homeless encampment.”

This American communist was a drifter in a time when drifting was semi honorable. Short on hygiene and roots.

Why is anyone surprised? We have a raghead communist in the White Hut, who nationalized two of our auto mfg. companies a few years ago; one of which makes Jeeps. One of the companies conducted a charade pretending to pay back all monies owed. Bullsxxt! They’ve not done any such thing until they make their defrauded investors whole; and no, I’m not one of them.

Yeah, that was the TurboTax commercial - I had blocked that one from my memory, it was so bad...

To me, the song is similar to the experience of the Pledge of Allegiance: both written by socialists for socialist purposes, but hijacked by all of America for all-American purposes.

You realize of course that most people don't Associate the song with communism no matter what the author had in mind? Just like countless people enjoy "Imagine" despite it being Lennon's tribute to a failed philosophy. Sometimes people make their own associations to music regardless of the writers original intent. Such anger, when at least to me they were not trying to say that jeep is America, rather they were trying to say that jeep can take you anywhere and after jeeps are made with union labor.

Now that the commies and their camel jockey pals have taken over the whole planet, the joint has become one giant freak show.

I was outraged because Woodie Guthrie was a rigid Marxist ideologue, and that song is a Communist anthem.

Guthrie was a big time Socialist if not Commie.

And like all 'RATs, his so-called "father" was a Klansman. Then -- as now -- the commie party is the place where the KKK is treated to a welcome mat. And hussein has only served to strengthen the relationship between nazism and the 'RAT party.

Other than the 4th verse (which I don’t think I have EVER heard anyone actually sing), it is a pretty good song about America, regardless of the politics of the writer. What, because we disagree with his politics, we can’t appreciate his music? This isn’t DU...

Geez, why don’t they just do a commercial with Paul Robeson singing “Deep River” while they’re at it.

The one stanza they never play:

There was a high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted said “Private Property”
But on the backside it didn’t say nothin’
This land was made for you and me.

Some “file your tax return for free” company...
While disrespectful to those patriots who risked their lives putting it in the face of the lobster backs, i thought it was pretty funny...

I didn’t like any of their ads. The dead boy, the girl thing or This Land is your Land.

At first I thought it was good and then I said out loud to everyone in the room, “That isn’t America”.

My DIL was going to buy a Jeep but I talked her out of it and I hadn’t seen the commercial yet.
