Fargo, North Dakota has not been a hotbed of violent crime. That may have changed with the oil boom that has been going on for the past decade. It appears that a number of transients and homeless people have found their way to the city. Last Monday, at noon, it was just below zero with a 10 mph wind. It was not a good time to be outdoors. To be knocked unconscious and left to lay exposed could have been fatal.
Fortunately for the victim in this crime, a concealed carry permit holder witnessed enough of the assault and robbery to hold the four suspects at gunpoint until the police arrived. From inforum.com:
Lt. Joel Vettel said one of the four knew the victim and lured him behind a building in the 900 block of NP Avenue. There, the man was assaulted, knocked unconscious and robbed of his wallet, Vettel said. All five people participants are now out of the weather. The four suspects are in jail, and the victim is likely in the hospital, at least for observation. Being knocked unconscious often has serious consequences.
Police were dispatched to the scene about 12:10 p.m. and learned that the passer-by, who has a license to carry a concealed weapon, brandished his gun to end the robbery, Vettel said.
I have to disagree.
While your comment could be true I have a different take on the nationality of all of them
They could be US native Americans
Well said and true
Although I would think the percentages might not be quite as generous as you suggest.

As a former resident of Martin, SD (between the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations)I’ve seen and lived the good and bad of the Lakota culture. My percentages are only one man’s perception.
No Wound......I see well.
Parka with dual,’slash’ chest pockets. You can walk with your hands in your pockets with arms at a natural angle ,but in close to your chest and a hand on a hammerless .38+P in a pocket holster.
Lol. Can there be ANY crime during the cold months? Drinking, FOR SURE, but crime that involves going out of doors? BRRRRRR!
Did I say all Indians were bad, or did you jump to a conclusion? And is there not a crime and alcohol problem on the Rez? And were the mugshots in the story not Indians? I’m tired of apologizing and being called names for telling the truth.
I always wondered why the Germans had so much trouble with the cold on the Eastern front. It gets plenty cold in Germany, especially in the mountains, and half the German army was in Russia for 4 years in WW1. You’d think they would have an institutional memory.
“Are you using a thumb pick when you get that cello sound? The attack sounds soft.”
Thumbpick and two fingerpicks. Judicious use of the volume pedal. Volume pedal can make it sound like it’s a bowed string. May be just my touch,,,, don’t know. Never analyzed it.
You didn’t say anything about Indians.
You were sneering at “Injuns”, despite your aversion to name-calling, apparently.
I am just telling you that many Indians have been my friends and neighbors all my life, and good Americans too.
I don’t believe in “banning” certain words from speech, although I don’t go around dropping ugly words at will, either.
But when I hear Christians mocked, or Tea Partyers, or the military, for instance, I get pissed off.
I feel the same way about my good neighbors, and I bet you do too.
It’s good work, Doc. You know your stuff!
Fine, point taken. Once again, I apologize for speaking without thinking I might offend someone somewhere.
The sarcasm falls short.
You know I wasn’t protesting somebody being “offended”.
You and I wouldn’t drop the n-bomb on Free Republic, not only because it is not allowed, but because we and FR are above it.
The term that I jumped on strikes my ears just about like an n-bomb, probably because of where and how I grew up.
But that’s me, and if you disagree, that’s you.
I laid into you pretty hard when I first saw the post. I could have handled it a different way, and I apologize for that.
Oops, my bad. There's nothing worse than a bigot that can't keep his minorities straight.
I used the term “injun” because someone else used it first and I was responding to that person, and yes, I have heard Native Americans use the same word, and not like blacks using the N-word to each other. I won’t make any more excuses, I have already apologized, and I will never use the word “Injun” on FR again.
No apologies needed.
I shot from the lip too fast, too hard myself.
Take care.
I was commenting on the many previous posts that mentioned Mexico and dreamers.
Wear one carries it (such as, “inside the belt”) is irrelevant; how it is fired is what counts.
A .380 with 95-grain FMJ fired from three feet away should penetrate even heavy clothing. However, if it hits bone its penetration is generally severely limited.
Like I said, a .380 would not be my first or even second choice, but if I do my job it will likely do its job.
I just like the odds of a heavier, faster round (such as a 9mm or .357 magnum).
That being said, I do carry a .380 on occasion, depending on the circumstances.
I sure as hell would not want to be shot with a .380.
“Wear” in this instance should, of course be “Where.” My feeble mind was concentrating on “wear” as in the carry and clothing. Hey, I had a senior moment.
