Car nerds, you just got an extra present under the tree.
Tesla announced Friday an upgrade for its Roadster, the electric car companys convertible model, and said that the new features significantly boost its range -- beyond what many traditional cars can get on a tank of gasoline.
The company is installing three retrofits for the vehicle. First up is a battery upgrade that marks a 31 percent increase in capacity. Next is an aero kit thatll alter the cars profile slightly, producing a 15 percent reduction in wind drag. Finally, the Roadster will be getting new, more efficient tires.
The result is an electric vehicle that can reliably travel about 350 miles before needing a recharge, and possibly more in ideal conditions. Thats pretty similar or even better than many conventional gasoline-powered cars. The University of Michigan estimates that the average fuel economy of a new car in 2014 was about 25 miles per gallon. With a 12- or 13-gallon tank, that gets you about 325 miles on a single fill-up....

It’s still an English car.
No sale.
Tesla is an American company.
“There are already quick charging stations that can bring an electric car to 80% charge in 25-30 minutes.”
Much better statement than the other one.
Not a single battery swapping station has yet to be built.
Plus there’s these little caveats:
Drivers who opt for the swap will have to eventually return to the station to get their original battery back, and theyll have to pay for the service once again.
If they dont return, they can pay to have the 1,000-pound battery shipped back to the service center nearest their home, or they can keep the new battery theyve had installed
Riiiiiiiiiight.
So, in other words, this whole cockamamie battery-swapping scheme is nothing but a sick joke and a ridiculous publicity stunt.
At a half mil per station, I can only assume that Elon is expecting uncle sugar daddy Obama to loan him the money to build the stations.
I swear you Tesla lovers post more misleading information than any liberal I’ve ever seen post on salon.com or slate.com.
The Tesla roadster is a reconfigured Lotus Elise.

Of course they’re going to say that.
“You dont buy a Tesla because it saves you money, but you wouldnt know about that would you....”
So, tell us, genius, what EXACTLY does a Tesla do that other cars do not?
Read it. Only 7% of the parts are shared. Many automobile manufacturers buy components from one another and have since pretty much the beginning of the industry. That doesn’t make the Tesla an English car any more than any other car.
English, as in “Lucas, Prince of Darkness, Dim, Flicker, Off?” Lucas? Do they drip oil to mark their territory?

After seeing remarks about a “train-freak” who was banned for abusive behavior I had to look up the free republic postings of “Willie Greene.”
This golf-cart cult sounds a lot like that guy.
why did you ping me
As one that views life through a paper towel tube you seem to miss most of reality
Considering the exaggerations and distortions they have promulgated about the "free" charging stations and the bogus battery swap promise, one would be well advised to be skeptical about their other claims.

“There’s no such thing as a ‘free lunch’.”
Who pays for the “free” electricity?
English cars once did have a bad reputation, especially concerning electrical systems, but that was quite a while ago. I’m not someone that would ever buy an electric car, so I’m not here to defend Tesla, the Toyota Prius or anything else. I drive an ancient Mercedes diesel that I was lucky enough to pick up for $100 ten years ago. I will almost certainly never own a $100,000 automobile and probably wouldn’t want to.

Typical liberals turned on by technology they refuse to understand.
Liberals really are the dumbest, low IQ, morons but think because they have a thought about something that they are the smartest people in the room.
They are like 7 years old children that constantly say, “Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there. Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.Mommy, mommy, mommy, there’s a red car over there.”
Until you answer such a child that is all they will say. Except, as adults, it is sad that they really think because they pointed out a red car over there that they are the geniuses for say it and that we are dumb for not noticing what they noticed.
Most “adult” liberals act a lot like rebellious children.
They rely on conservatives for their quality of life. Those that realize it are resentful.

In an earlier incarnation, he was involved with the internet’s earliest inception. He is not a flake and makes a good case for the tech.
