MICHELLE OBAMA ONCE GOT ASKED FOR HELP AT TARGET, THINKS IT WAS PROBABLY RACIST By Emily Zanotti 12.17.14
Look. I honestly believe that yes, there are lingering vestiges of racism in our society. You don't exorcise something that pervasive in modern culture in less than a century. Occasionally - not regularly, but occasionally - we've all been known to make varying assumptions about other people based on existing stereotypes.
I have no doubt that, in their lifetimes, the Obamas have experienced lots of instances of discrimination based on skin color, and I think that's a tragedy. However, I do not think being asked to reach something on a high shelf at a big box retail store is one of those instances.
"I tell this story I mean, even as the first lady during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn't see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn't anything new," Michelle Obama, who is 5'11", said.
Frankly, speaking as someone who is, shall we say, a perfectly-formed miniature human being, sometimes we short people just need something off a really high shelf. And when that happens we have two choices: climb the flimsy Target infrastructure in pursuit of the comically-oversized budget bag of toilet paper and risk getting a concussion from Extra-Soft Charmin, or ask someone who is of normal human stature to reach it for us.

Racist or wise??
Well what did they ask her? “Where’s the arugula, tubby?”
Did they ask her for a mop up on aisle 3?
It won't stop a bullet...
From the article: “We’ve all been known to make varying assumptions about other people based on existing stereotypes.”
So does that mean we should blame the media and those leftists that put out movies and TV shows? That seems to be where a lot of the stereotypes originate or get reinforced.
And if they didn’t ask? We’ll that’s racist.
Mental cases have delusions.

Conflicts greatly with her People mag interview!
I was asked for help at Walmart just the other day. It wasn’t because of the color of my skin but the color of my shirt.
Ooops... I forgot, unlike Walmart, Target is a democrat store (which is why I NEVER go there). So, maybe Michelle has a point.
And to Michelle 0bama, Shut up. Just shut up now and forever. You have nothing to add to anything that will help anyone. Close your toxic mouth. Please.
A woman asked her if she could reach something on a shelf for her. I have been asked that myself and have accommodated without any racial incident. Even the abominable snowman could reach the top of the Christmas tree to put the star on and he was white too!
I say BS to that .. no way anyone would get to her with all the SS around her ... made up story.
Judas Priest, I have been asked for help because I dress like a modest responsible person, am I supposed to scream sexism? Prejudice against blonds?
I get asked for assistance a lot. In various places. Depending on the circumstance, I either politely reply that “Sorry, I don’t work here” or if possible I take the opportunity to help, figuring maybe I can make someone’s day brighter.
But then, I don’t go through life looking for reasons to stand on a soapbox, rend my garments and shriek “I’m offended!”
Sheesh, what a rinky-dink version of “don’t you know who I am?”...
Now, I did not mind helping, but am not predisposed to with a culture that I know would likely give me the finger would I ask them for help. There are few negros here, so I figure she had to ask me or wait a long time or do it herself.
ol’ “platau-ass” is always whining or bitching about something.
She’s got the Diana ross syndrome, “How dare you look me in the eye”.
“Don’t you know who I am?”. Yeah, I know who you are, and what you are...a race-baiter, and a white hater.
good grief I’ve gone into multiple stores in my lifetime and had people ask me for help thinking I work there.... just depends on how you’re dressed .....you dress grubby out on the street and people think you’re homeless
Nice find!
No one knew that was me. Because a woman actually walked up to me, right? I was in the detergent aisle, and she said I kid you not she said, Excuse me, I just have to ask you something. And I thought, Oh, covers blown. She said, Can you reach on that shelf and hand me the detergent? I kid you not. And the only thing she said I reached up, because she was short, and I reached up, pulled it down. She said, Well, you didnt have to make it look so easy. That was my interaction. I felt so good.

So race had NOTHING to do with it.
If anything, Barry and Michelle got scholarships, accepted into Ivy League schools with, at least for Zero, a “C” college average. Jobs. Elected President without qualifications...
Not seeing how they aren’t the big winners of the race game.
