Obama to address race relations [Your parents, grandparents, uncles think things are better]

President Obama will sit down with BET Networks to discuss calls for criminal justice reform after two controversial grand jury decisions cleared white officers in the death of black men.

In a special segment, "BET News Presents: A Conversation with President Barack Obama," the president will help find meaningful solutions to unrest after the deaths of Michael and Eric Garner sparked nationwide protests.

"This isn't going to be solved overnight," Obama said in an excerpt of the interview to air Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.

The interview, hosted by BET host and TV journalist Jeff Johnson, marks the president's first network discussion outlining his strategy to investigate the incidents and ways the country can unify during this time.

"This is something that's deeply rooted in our society, deeply rooted in our history. But the two things that will allow us to solve it: Number one: Is the understanding that we have made progress and so it's important to recognize that as painful as these instances our, we can't equate what's happening now with what was happening 50 years ago. If you talk to your parents, grandparents, uncles, they'll tell you that things are better,"

Speaking to youth on the music-variety series targeting African Americans, Obama also cited "progress" as the second most critical step.

His speech comes after two weeks of protests that followed two nationally watched decisions against prosecuting white police officers who shot Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and Garner in New York.

Garner, 43, died after a white police officer placed him in chokehold while attempting to arrest him in July. Michael Brown, 18, was fatally shot in August.

Barack Obama is divisive.

This resembles Al Gore's tactics when speaking to students: "Al Gore pushed the rhetorical envelope yesterday when he compared skeptics of climate change to racists during the Civil Rights Movement. Gore was sitting down for an interview with Alex Bogusky of the Climate Reality Project, and suggested that young people today whose parents do not believe in climate change are asking the same questions now that race-conscious young people in the 60s asked their parents.

Gore explains:

Al Gore likens global warming deniers to slavery, apartheid perpetrators

Al Gore: Don't listen to your parents

Gore to Children: Question your Parents' Climate Beliefs as we Questioned Segregation" "....“The entire North Polar Ice Cap is melting,” Gore continued. “The sea level is rising, the storms are getting stronger. You know the story. It has to be dealt with and you have to help us deal with it because you – you’re not encumbered with these old assumptions that it’s OK to put all the pollution up there."...

Wonder if the unacceptable behavior of black males will be a topic of discussion?

"If you talk to your parents, grandparents, uncles, they'll tell you that things are better," [said Barack Obama]

Yeah, why didn't Michael Brown's parents, grandparents, and uncles - you know, the people who were constantly mentoring him, and helping him to avoid becoming a thug - explain that to him?

Regards,

Obama: We have a solution to the race dilemma if we can just get all the conservative Christian men to hand over their guns...

Race relations were a lot better before tou took office Bozo. Think there might be some type of correlation there?

Flames are not high enough, stores not looted enough, just not enough destruction ,anger and hatred on the streets - the King must speak in order to stir up more sentiment and anger.
You know, if Obama had a son, he would look like all of the dead, black men killed by nasty, white, evil policemen...

I heard he’s also going on the Colbert show. It’s good that things are so peaceful, tranquil, and prosperous that he has time to step away from governing and go on entertainment shows. But then, why not do something nice for Comedy Central. They and the other “entertainment” media have been boosting him for years.

Hands up - yada, yada... thugs are supposed to run rampant under Obama and holder...

Ferguson, Mo. - It's to die for...

This will only stop when us less preferential/'protected' races are picking cotton.

“This will only stop when us less preferential/’protected’ races are picking cotton.”

Won’t happen because cotton is harvested by machine now….just as fast food places will soon have robots doing work that unions want $15/hr. to do.
With minorities and ignorant Whites dropping out of high school, there will be nothing for them to do but cause trouble.

My (white) daughter picked cotton a couple of years ago. Never underestimate the resiliency of poverty and intractability of ignorance. Choices can make life hard.

A MUCH better speech addressing all sides of the issue could be written by myself after counsel with a few wiser heads which would bring a need for calm and order in the nation. All sides of the issue need to FIRST consider the MUST that the nation HAS to return to a standard value system based on a belief in God and His Word now.

It is a vacuum of values that is creating this entire mess. I am white, married to a native of Mexico and have no animosity towards either Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, etc. who live by a Biblical value system. They are wonderful people. All those of any culture or ethnicity who turn their backs on God are evil, corrupt and violent people and having traveled the world, I've seen them all.

It has NOTHING to do with race and EVERYTHING to do with values. People that follow Biblical teaching treat EVERYONE with kindness and consideration. Those who believe it is okay to be immoral, break the law and get involved in mob violence do not treat others properly.

The president and almost everyone involved in government up in Washington and everywhere else look to any solution but God these days. So, when Obama or any of them with a political instead of God-based value system open their mouths, they are only going to make this situation far worse than it already is. Those who have been killed were almost always doing something wrong.Yes, there are things that are WRONG to do. Then, they ended up fighting with the police and death resulted.

If the advocacy is for allowing these criminal elements to do what they please with no resistance, then even more violence is going to result with eventual civil war. You can not insult, steal and be immoral around moral, law-abiding people and have a peaceful outcome. Politics is about power and control and Christianity is about making it to Heaven. "Choose you this day whom you will serve...."
