Brittany Maynard, the Oregon woman who had become an outspoken advocate for patients' rights following her terminal cancer diagnosis, died on Saturday, the Oregonian reported. She was 29.
"Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love," she wrote in a Facebook post, according to People. "Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness... the world is a beautiful place, travel has been my greatest teacher, my close friends and folks are the greatest givers... goodbye world. Spread good energy. Pay it forward!"
Earlier this year, Maynard learned that she was suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma and had only six months to live. After hearing what the disease would to her body in its final stages, she decided that she wanted to die on her own terms.

If only she lived a little longer she could have squeezed a couple more cliches into her final post.
And I understand you then. You don’t have a choice in the suicide decision if you are in the right kind of pain. Got it. Situational ethics I see.
So do you think it’s hell, or maybe just 3-5 in the fictional purgatory thing?
Amen. And that's exactly what keeps cancer patients going and oncologists encouraging them.
Plus, there are patients who do beat this type of cancer at the same stage. For example:
You know, we on the right should all be as calloused, heartless, and as cold as we can. We should speak of this little girl in the most vile ways we can. There isn’t an election in two days or anything.
This sounds like DU in the venom aimed at that little girl. Embarrassing.
This whole thing is about assisted suicide. The media loves it and her. Sickos.
Sure is sick how many conservatives cheer an assisted suicide advocate.
God help this country when Government gets involved with assisted suicide~~went so well with abortion!
"One, being God had a plan for me," said Knies. "I also had a great team of doctors and wonderful family and friends with a positive attitude."
Your comments are quite mixed up.
And angry.
What’s wrong?
Big difference in cheering her, and showing a little compassion to someone who’s brain was literally self destructing. You can out debate a young girl with a defective brain. Congrats big man.
You ask a question the morons cannot answer.
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
Oh, anger is just another service I provide!
We do know the choice that Brittany Maynard made.
That is a too common misinterpretation. Accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord is accepting Him as your substitute before God. You exchange places. He died for you, you live because of Him. If He is not your substitute, you stand before God on your own merit and you WILL fall short.
If a man stands trial for murder and during the trial he is offered a pardon but rejects the pardon because of conditions (counting the costs), then what ultimately sends him to prison? Is he sent to prison for rejecting the pardon? No. He is sent to prison for murder.
Everyone who goes to hell gets there because the wages of sin is death and all have sinned. Pardon comes to those whose debt was paid by another -- the only worthy substitute. WORTHY IS THE LAMB WHO WAS SLAIN.
As for the poor people who chose to jump instead of burn to death, they did not commit suicide. They where murdered. They where fleeing from the onslaught of flame as best they could. They had no choice in the matter.
Ms. Maynard bot only was fully conscious of her act, she also broadly publicized it for the further aggrandizement of an act that is one of desperation and self murder. It was not only an act that was likely wrong, it was also raveled in by those who participated in it bringing great publicity to an evil enterprise, intentional self murder.
Cheers! I’ve always been the type that if I ride up on a hanging, I’ll jump in with the underdog. I don’t like seeing defenseless people getting kicked around.
I'm not referring to those who jumped. I am referring only to those turds who question their judgement in jumping.
Best to have a Dillon Aero to mop up the kickers around.
True, Catholics did use their famed legalistic sophistry to move away from the older suicide position. Now if you commit suicide, you’re crazy from depression, ergo, not responsible. But if your brain is eaten at with cancer and you are having seizures and convulsions worsening, you are clearly of sound mind.
Interesting.
