In order to express her worries about our collective failure to act on the climate change threat, Harvard science historian Naomi Oreskes turned to science fiction. Her book, "The Collapse of Western Civilization: A View From the Future", is written from the point of view of a future historian who chronicles how humans ignored many clear warnings about the adverse effects of rising temperature, resulting in The Great Collapse of 2093. The details of that collapse include "floods, droughts, mass migrations, [and] the end of humanity in Africa and Australia."
Oreskes began her efforts by chronicling the real scientific consensus behind climate change, then was met with equal parts praise and attack from liberal and conservative camps, respectively. It's a familiar story in what has become a very politically divided nation. After researching her opponents--mainly a group of physicists who came to prominence during the Cold War--she discovered the debate was more about economics than science: the preservation of unbridled capitalism is more about preserving democracy than saving nature.
In his Big Think interview, Bill Nye warns climate change deniers that ignoring scientific fact will eventually prove dangerous, no matter how you slice it:

First, Barack the Dork.
Now, Naomi the nincompoop.
Harvard is rapidly becoming a joke.
Whatta ‘bout the pronunciation of NASA’s Islamic Probes to Uranus?
I am supposed to care about what happens in 2093 in 2014? Really? We have tons of problems and Global Warming is not one of them.
personally I think our future generations will look back at the damage the lunatic gaia worshipers did and their ridiculous fear mongering and wonder how the rational people let them get away with as much as they did.
Phrenology had the same sort of widely touted “scientific consensus” two hundred years ago that Global Warming does today, the same sneering certainties on the part of the unqualified, the same rush of enthusiasm, the same celebrity practitioners. I do not think history will be any kinder to the AGW crowd than it has been to people who thought they could tell your character from the bumps on your head.
It’s called Global Warming Nye ,stop changing the name
I found myself confronting a strangers random presumptuousness re: AGW. I matched snottiness with snottiness, but that just isnt me. No profit in it.I should have said, I have good news and bad news. First, the bad news: China is stamping out new coal-fired power plants like cookies, and India isnt far behind. So even if you win politically in America, you are not going to save the world from CO2.
The good news is that the AGW vindicates Eisenhowers warning about the possibility of politicization of science and the military-industrial complex. AGW is a hoax, so the Earth doesnt need you to save it from CO2.
They will be too busy clawing at the doors of neighbors demanding they turn over their guests so they can have their way with them.
Nice Sodom and Gomorrah reference.
Don’t forget astrology and alchemy.
Personally, I believe that our burning of petroleum products for heat (still done) will look insane.
The good news, is that our garbage dumps will become productive mines someday.
Umm... I’ve heard a Lot about that story...
Will Future Generations See Our Inaction on Climate Change [Obama's Tyrannical Presidency] as a Great Immoral Act?
LOL.
It's a great plan for evading personal responsibility.
That being said, nuke-U-leer energy seems to be the answer for at least the next hundred years.
No.
Not if they have any brains and morality.
Years from now, while huddled around a fire to fight off the bitter cold of an ice age, future people will look back at global warming, and know that we were the generation that lost our minds and science.
In 2093 , some of the few souls who still think freely, will stumble upon some old books which have somehow managed to escape being burned and wonder how a civilization of reason that brought men to the moon could have been conquered by backward savages who worship an evil moon God.
