Famed Chef Emeril Lagasse Says Obama May Drive Him Broke
PJ Tatler ^ | September 25, 2014 | Bryan Preston

Famed chef Emeril Lagasse says that it’s becoming all but impossible to be a successful restaurateur in America today. The government just gets in the way too much. Lagasse specifically singled out the current president’s policies.

“It’s becoming a very challenging industry to become a very successful average restaurateur,” continued Lagasse. “I can’t charge $300 a person in my restaurant or I would not be in business. Am I using any different ingredients? Not really. Am I using any caliber of service staff? I don’t think so. I think our service is as good or better than most places.”

“And then you add all the Obama nonsense to what it’s become in the last several years. I don’t have anything against Mr. Obama. I’m just saying the way that, you know… the government should stay out of things. [...] Pretty soon, they’re going to wipe a lot of the middle restaurateurs and restaurant cooks. [...] If it continues, then watch: you’re going to have high-end, and you’re going to have fast food, and you’re going to have chain restaurants.”

Lagasse shared his thoughts on TNT’s On the Menu. He predicts that if the government doesn’t start getting out of the way, the American restaurant industry will split and leave entrepreneurs and start-ups behind. American restaurants will consist only of high-end establishments like the ones Lagasse owns, fast food and chain restaurants, because no one else will be able to succeed.

More business owners need to speak out if they have the forum like Emril. Put it in the face of this administration that THEY are killing jobs in the middle class. The GOP should be trumpeting this all over the place but they are too dumb to get out of their own way....

Uh oh! The NSA needs to go thru all Emerils phone conversations from the last 10 years in hopes of coming across him saying the N word or whatnot.

A century ago the bulk of our population earned their living as small businessmen (farmers, shopkeepers, blacksmiths, etc.). They knew and understood how free enterprise works.

Voters today are nearly clueless.

Karma.

So the big chains benefit? Might want to look at their execs’ and PACs’ donation record, Em ... Also familiarize yourself with a neat little term: crony capitalism.

He used to be on Food Network. They are chock full of liberals. So, my guess is he voted for the regime that is choking his industry.

The very fact Federal business regulations have become too complex and dealing with that 75,000 page monstrosity called the Internal Revenue Code explains why the middle class and small businesses are failing at a horrifying rate.

I’m sure it revolves around benefits. Its expensive for big chains but they can afford it more than a little place with only a couple locations.

Dunno about your argument Emeril.

I’ve dined at Emeril’s Delmonico in Las Vegas.

Without drinks, I think we spent $250 per person, including appetizers.

The booze and wine tacked on another $300-$400 per person.

I might be low balling it too.

I remember one night for three of us was about $6,000.

Another night with myself and a friend we spent $1,200 or so.

Emeril’s is a great restaurant but, measured against other experiences it’s more like “rather good”

High End Restaurants will be for the Overlords.

Chicken Nuggets with Soybean oil dipping sauce and Double McPinkSlimes with Processsed Cheeselike Product (ordered off the $2 “extra value” menu) will be for those lucky enough to scam a SNAP card.

Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc. will be the approved food for the producer class... a dressed up version of the, soybean contaminated manna our Overlords bestow upon us as they dine on Ambrosia delivered to them on Capitol Hill by doves.

For the most part out in Western PA, I find that the producer class have all already “Settled for Applebees”.

No, thanks.
