[snip]So why would the USAF build a hangar tall enough to house a jumbo jet? Maybe they are hedging their investment to accommodate presently unknown future projects, or there is something in the works that has a fairly massive, and very much un-stealthy vertical tail.

Multipurpose. Sometimes you just need a tall hanger with a very tall door.
Where else would you park your dirigible or your tall-tailed whatever to get it out of the hot sun?

That size of hanger wouldn’t be unusual at all. What’s unusual is that anyone would think that size is unusual.

One still missing airliner comes to mind.

Anything a hiker can see 30 miles away, Russian satellites can see a whole lot better. Anyway, considering how many Las Vegas civilians are flown there to work from McCarran airport on Janet 737s every morning, there isn't likely to be anything really secret going on at that location.

It’s scary how some areas of TX are getting more ‘blue’ since 2000, based upon the county election maps. Austin is a lib-dem sewer.

Two things come to mind: airships and ultra-light drone aircraft meant to stay high altitude airborne for years.
The latter have an exceptionally large wingspan.
It should be able to tell if the hangar is for an airship, as they have a rather unique design.

True, is just that it really feels like there’s absolutely no attempt to convey a sense of any projection of national security for anything that might be meaningful in protecting American lives. We don’t even have borders anymore.

So why would the USAF build a hangar tall enough to house a jumbo jet?To perform a stealthy test inflation of the Moochelle balloon before the next Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
It's part of the get America skinny thingy.
