CNN Wolf Blitzer: Why Dont Cops Shoot to Wound? By Robert Farago on August 17, 2014
On Thursday, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer asked guest [lawyer] Jeffrey Toobin why police werent instructed to shoot to injure, instead of kill,
talkingpointsmemo.com reports. Blitzers questions arose during a discussion on the unfurling conflict in Ferguson, Mo. over the fatal police shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown. They often shoot to kill, Blitzer said of police. Why do they have to shoot to kill? Why cant they shoot a warning shot in the air, scare someone off if they think theyre in danger. Why cant they shoot to, injure, shall we say? Why do they have to shoot to kill? [Click here to watch the clip] TTAG reader F reckons Blitzers ignorance . . .

An idiot.
If a 300 pound man is bearing down on you like Michael Brown, one thinks first of one’s own safety.
Everything else is secondary.
If wounding is priority, why carry a gun. Throw stickballs at them.
Wolf would never make a cop.
He doesn’t even make a reporter.
That requires an assumption and a prediction. They have to assume that the attacker is not irrationally out of control, and that the chances are high that the warning shot will actually work. All of that deliberation takes time which is not available in an emergency situation.
He barely makes a human being.
Why Dont Cops Shoot to Wound?
+++++++
The same reason that the people on “The Walking Dead” don’t.
Why didn’t they shoot Rubber Ear Plugs/Bullets? /s
Personally I prefer 18.5”, 12 gauge, 00, Browning!
Shooting to wound gives reason to do you great harm.
They do. Sometimes perps die anyway. :-)
They need to put Wolf out there on the street & tell him if he has to shoot, then shoot to wound. See how that turns out.
Not to be macabre but after being wounded by a gun shot to the head, 03/30/1881, James Brady lived until 08/04/2014.
That is 33 years, 4 months, 5 days!

Is Wolf REALLY that stupid? Looks to me like the man who assaulted Officer Wilson WAS wounded. Apparently the perp was not stopped by that wounding.
Officer Wilson had already been attacked by the perp, so probably feared for his life.
So the perp died.
Best episode of Jeopardy I ever saw. Andy killed it!
Remember when this guy was on Jeopardy?
What are the chances of hitting an artery and bleeding out if hit in the leg or arm?
And a gut shot is just a slow death sentence.
There really aren't any guaranteed "wound" spots, are there?

Phasers haven’t been invented yet, but Wolf is so smart he will get right on that I’ll bet...
Real life is not Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry and the Lone Ranger shooting the guns out of the bad guys' hands.
And it is not even Dirty Harry shooting a perp and asking is he feels lucky.
I think the cops should shoot themselves, that way these never-hurt-a-fly saints like M. Brown would stop attacking and go to their aid.

And most people are full of opinions about something they do not know, but are anxious to tweet, post, pontificate and all at light speed.
