Perhaps sensing a leadership vacuum with Mayor de Blasio enjoying la dolce vita overseas, former Mayor Bloomberg is back in the news. With an international message: He's traveling to Israel to blast the FAA's decision to ban flights to Israel.
Earlier today, the FAA announced that flights to and from Tel Aviv would be prohibited for up to 24 hours after reports of a rocket strike landing about a mile from Ben Gurion this morning. Which prompted Bloomberg to plan a trip. He wrote on his website:
This evening I will be flying on El Al to Tel Aviv to show solidarity with the Israeli people and to demonstrate that it is safe to fly in and out of Israel. Ben Gurion is the best protected airport in the world and El Al flights have been regularly flying in and out of it safely. The flight restrictions are a mistake that hands Hamas an undeserved victory and should be lifted immediately. I strongly urge the FAA to reverse course and permit US airlines to fly to Israel.
El Al is an Israeli carrier, so it's not subject to the FAA's ban.
Back in 2009, Bloomberg said of the situation in the Middle East (which was then a conflict and not yet a terrible crisis), "All Hamas has to do is stop sending rockets over to kill people and agree on the accords that were negotiated earlier and come to an agreement that is verifiable, durable and effective to stop people from being killed." He had his critics.
Yeah, I was thinking about the stopped clock LOL.
There’s a smell to this situation with a big “O” being the source.
As for Bloomberg, the rich liberal crony capitalist, I am with him in spirit tonight.
Bloomberg, you are the sine qua non idiot. Nothing more needs to be said.
He should fly to the Russian / Ukraine border next...
Thank you for posting this article.
“...and effective to stop people from being killed....”
But THAT is not their goal.
You can bet Bloomberg will be on a private jet with an escort flying right along with him...
In his private jet and disembark at general aviation site, not where the people are.
I’ll drink a Big Gulp in his honor.
Geeminy! Embarrassing that it had to be BLOOMBERG of all people to show solidarity on the ground in Israel instead of jocularity from afar. There was a time when Americans crossed the pond to fight along side a friend at war and wore their uniforms.
But, times have changed.
Good for Bloomberg. Stopped clock does work, here.

I hear the south Indian Ocean is nice this time of year...
Maybe he can go there and convince Israeli’s to turn in there guns.
Many homes there have full auto weapons
Bringing his anti-gun crusade to Israel.
At first I thought the airlines were making the right decision(To protect their passengers, no one wants another MH17 to happen) but then I was reading on twitter that there is speculation that Obama and his cronies ordered the FAA to halt all flights to Israel to hurt their economy so that Israel would have no choice but to do a cease fire(Since Israel gets about 13 million people a year in tourism)..I cant believe for once in his miserable life, Bloomberg is doing something that I agree with..but if he thinks for a second that he is going to try that anti gun agenda in Israel, it won’t work..everyone packs in Israel
How can people like Mike Bloomberg, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Anthony Weiner, George Soros, Sarah Silverman and the people described below belong to the same religion?

How ironic.
I hope Bloomturd is flying to Tel Aviv one-way.
This FAA ban is ridiculous. The FAA did NOT close the route, obviously, El Al is flying from the US. They restricted US pilots, which is highly unusual, and clearly political.
