(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

On July 2nd, Target "respectfully" asked law-abiding citizens to "not bring firearms" in their stores.

The department store chain did this via an announcement posted on its website and shared by interim CEO John Mulligan.

The announcement says:

As you've likely seen in the media, there's been a debate about whether guests in communities that permit "open carry" should be allowed to bring firearms into Target stores. Our approach has always been to follow local laws, and of course, we will continue to do so. But starting today we will respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target--even in communities where it is permitted by law.

By taking this step, Target joins Chipotle, Jack in the Box, Sonic, and Chili's in asking law-abiding citizens not to carry guns in their businesses....

I suppose someone should enter the store with a running chain saw or battle axe, just to make a point?

From what I understand, they will not post. Seems like the just wanted MDA to shut up, but make no changes to their policy.

I have bought ammo at Target many times. Does K-Mart still sell guns and ammo?

I quit target years ago, and if I had to go for some reason today, I would go packing my heat.

Exactly. I have no problem with a private business asking patrons to not open carry.

They can feel good about being sitting ducks right up until the shots start ringing out. Then they’d wish they had a gun themselves.

Isn’t there some odd sort of irony in a company called ‘Target’ that uses a shooting range target for a logo to be telling people to leave their guns at home? Maybe these people need to change their name and their logo if they’re so anti-gun?

In any case, not only will my guns never go to Target again, neither will I. As of today Target joins Wal Mart among the places I do not patronize.

Ever.

Target is based in Minnestoopid. Ties to the Dayton family. So it diggers.

Sounds gun friendly if you ask me.

I took their new policy to be anti-customer safety and pro violent criminal, as in:

Hey criminals, our customers are the real "Target."

Well considering they don’t have hardly anything I’m looking for I’ll continue not to shop there. It looks like some Yuppie store. Electronics pathetic, sporting goods a joke, same with hardware & tools, pets is pathetic, music???, snacks? the grocery store is cheaper and more choice. Nope I don’t need to go in a Target anyway. More so now.

I don’t shop at this particular criminal-friendly zone, but no firearms signs do not deter me from patronizing an establishment as I simply ignore the sign. If ever confronted, I shall just make it clear that they will no longer receive my money, and that I will make sure to malign the company in any manner possible to tarnish its image with people I know.

First your credit card isn’t safe at Target and now they don’t want law abiding citizens to protect themselves. Why would anyone shop there?

I can’t even count the number of people mugged in the nearby target parking lot. I was just in that parking lot recently and there was an incident in fact.

You might say it was a Target-rich environment.

I have made a compromise on the concealed versus open carry issue-I carry a full size .45 under a t shirt that doesn’t hide it as well as it could. It’s concealed but anybody looking closely will notice. I find that drawing is much faster this way btw.
