I really wanted Opus Delecti to mean delicious opus, but it doesn't.
In almost 16 years, this is my first vanity. And all I can muster is to post it in bloggers and personal, where it ostensibly belongs. Vanities were against the rules, and as a date once told me, I'm a rule follower. Nobody will miss me when I'm gone. In fact, I know many folks will rejoice.
There are many folks I will miss, once zotted. I'll miss the kitty pings, most of all. I'll miss the quiet solitude of Lurker and the crazy shenanigans of Laz. I always wanted to be like them. And I would totally hit that.
I loved the FR. It was my home. You shouldn't crap in your home (see what I did there, admin mod?). But I did on several occasions. I tried to be contrite. I was whipped into shape by many of you fine folks. There are certainly a lot of learned jerks here.
This board is one of the most amazing I've experienced in my short span of 41 years. Who knew I would go from the impeachment to Benghazi without experiencing life? Why on earth would it take me this long to understand what is really important?
Don't be me. Don't eke out an existence while your dreams languish. It's time to create new dreams. Some people say that happiness is a choice. When I'm in public I choose wisely. When in my castle, I choose poorly. Very poorly.
I'm a morbidly obese man. It pains me to admit that. Boy do I tire of the fat jokes on this board. But I get it. There's nothing redeeming about abusing ones body. There's nothing redeeming about mocking God. I'm really sorry, and I'm trying to change.
I look at some of the achievements in my life and they're all so trite. Platitudinous.
Who doesn't want to do great things? Who doesn't want to leave the world a better place than we found it? But there's got to be a greater calling, and being here just twists me up in knots. So many arguments, so much disparity when we have so much in common.
I just don't get it. Why is it so easy for the liberals to coalesce, and so difficult for us? Why is it when the liberals say they want to increase spending by 10%, we say, no, how about 5%? Why don't we say what we mean and tell them that we want to eliminate that department entirely? What is wrong with us?
What I have learned is that compromise means always moving leftward. And I don't see that changing. I see nothing positive in store for our republic, and it makes me sad.
Sometimes, I actually miss A+Bert and Eschoir.

If you think your life is not what it should be, why not try to change it? Walk away from the keyboard. Go for a walk instead. Call an old friend after that. Get some extra sleep tonight. Go for a walk in the morning. Eat only two-thirds tomorrow what you would ate today.
Tomorrow is the beginning of the rest of your life. Why not seize the day and LIVE?!

I feel pretty discouraged, too. But if you feel that bad, just take a break for the summer, and come back next fall.
Sounds like you just need a break from the glowing screen. Take some time, regroup and come back fresh. FR Class of ‘98 rules, man! ;-)
