Wow...It's hit or miss when you don't raise them yourself.

My buddy and his wife got a rescued "toy" dog. This one had to have been surrendered by someone very loving who could not care for her any more.

It is so magnificently trained it almost takes care of itself. If they miss a scheduled event the dog will react almost "patiently" while waiting for said event. It's like a " Stepford lapdog" - LOL!

My mother had a little toy poodle mix that was like that.

Spent a lot of time with my dad before he died...she kept that dog for years afterwards until it died. Probably about as best trained personal companion as you could have.

But in the end, the temperament and makeup of any dog is luck of the draw. They’re why people take a chance on strange dogs.
