That sure looks like Leslie Nielsen on that poster but he didn’t get his name on it?

Uh uh. No way... The last time I challenged someone to beat that, there was a Tsunami shortly afterwards.
It was that fat guy over in Sheboygen that did it.

There’s a course this lawyer should take. It’s called ‘geology’.

Some folks actually want CO2 and
are willing to pay a cool billion for it. Actually, the geologic activity on the Ring of Fire isn't unusual or at any exceptional level, it's just better reported. Impending doom sells. Time to worry about the Long Valley Caldera - it is a super volcano, active and showing a lot of signs of subterranean activity. It would do a job on LA, Vegas, and San Francisco.

In fairness, Doug, we ARE in the midst of an “earthquake swarm.” 6 of the largest 13 earthquakes of the past century happened in the last 10 years.
The last earthquake swarm (1950-1965) generate 5 of the 13 largest earthquakes.
By contrast, none of the 25 largest earthquakes of the past century occurred between 1965 and 2005.

Oh i am not saying there were not big eruptions recently but the historical record suggests volcanic activity so rampant and large if it would to occur today we would not know what hit us.

Volcanoes Erupting Right Now All Over The Ring Of Fire Is The U.S. Next? The desert tortoise would ahve a much bigger problem than grazing cattle. Might keep the BLM occupied and they could leave American taxpayers alone.

Daughter is in the mission field at the base of a Central American volcano. I expect if it blows I wont see her again in this life.

I really REALLY like that movie.
When I was a kid, we went to see it at the Drive-in.
One day I’ll get a DVD of it.

Matched against the Holocene’s seismicity overall, I’d expect it to average out, despite a peak or valley here or there.
Though what to do outside improved building codes?
If it weren’t for tectonics we wouldn’t be here to discuss anything at all.
