Obviously the goal is public transportation (aka control) instead of private vehicles.
Although once they get full computer authority in the private vehicles the libs may not be so hateful of them.
When non-Eric Holder's people drive around in personal vehicles, it is very difficult for Eric Holder's people to play Knockout King on them or flash-rob them.
Get them out of their cars and into trains and terminals and Eric Holder's people have equal access to them.

Funny that high-speed rail was bad from the liberal POV when the private railroads in the USA were trying to develop it in the 50s and 60s, and the feds regulated/taxed it out of existence while making public works projects out of interstate highways and airports.
Because liberals are immature little children who think the only jobs are firemen (think govt jobs) and love playing with their choo choo trains....
Ie. they have the mentality of 4 year olds...
Anything that turns individuals into cogs in a big government wheel is supportey by liberals. The difference between classic and modern liberalism is what is called negative vs. positive liberty. The founders of America were the negative liberty type: just keep government out of my personal life. Today’s liberals belive in “positive” liberty: government the distributer of liberty through entitlements. They are completely opposite to the founding principals of America, and shall I say it? They’re supporters of fascism in every form except name.

One has to wonder WHY they want everyone so packed into their agenda 21 cities and leave the countryside all vacant...
One would almost think that they are under some sort of alien control and their want all humans concentrated in cities so the aliens only have small areas of the earth to bomb and so after that there are no red necks left int he countryside with shotguns left to shoot the greys and start any sort of meaningful resistance...
But I don’t believe in aliens existence, so I have to assume the people in power think it is better to have have a neo feudal system where the “unwashed masses” are safely under their control in cities all dependent upon them like the serfs of the middle ages.
Like a Shinkansen.

I saw a movie years ago where nobody except the military and police had guns, and everybody rode in trains.
It was called “Schindler’s List”
They are stuck in the past. They are attracted to rule by dictators; railroads; fuels such as the sun and wind; not using modern IDs for voting, gun background checks, and social security card verification for jobs. Don’t forget O’s comment that if we didn’t have ATMs, more people could be hired. On and on...
I takes a lot of land from private owners and puts the government in control of that land for all eternity.
And it launders tens of millions of dollars through the unions and right back to the pockets of the democrat politicians who pushed it.

Want a place to live? Need a RESIDENCY PERMIT!
Want to travel? (Only on PUBLIC TRANSIT, of course.) Need a TRAVEL PERMIT or INTERNAL PASSPORT! (After the E15 ethanol gasoline destroys your engine.)
Want to eat? Need that FOOD RATION BOOK!
And draconian penalties await those who fail to obey the regulations or help others do so. That’s when the burly armed men appear. And they will just be “following orders.” Now where have we heard THAT phrase before??

On that same note we got rid of most local commuter rail systems (except in the really big cities) because personal transportation (ie. cars and trucks) were preferred by most people. Somewhere between 1920 and 1940 in Milwaukee, WI we ripped up the extensive trolly system because no one was riding it. For years the current Mayor has been obsessed with putting in a little oval downtown (for many millions of dollars) of a trolly, taking away critical parking spots, requiring utility lines to be moved at a cost of many more millions of dollars (that he wants the rest of the state to pay for); all for a trolly line that won’t even run 1 mile.
Ok, sorry for the run-on sentence. Oh, and the rubber tired “trollies” we have/had; well that just isn’t good enough.
For many years, and to this day we continue to fight back against commuter rail; a concept that continues to be a black hole every place that has it. The exception is the really huge cities.
Liberals are not in love with rail; they are obsessed with it! In part because it fails every place it is tried (their ideas can never be wrong; it is just that they have not done them far enough) they have to try it more. Maybe one more needle will get the heroin addict to where he needs to be.... Same idea except the libs REFUSE to pay for their addictions; we are supposed to do that for them.
Not really, trains and progressives are both out of the 19th century.
