I Look Down On Young Women With Husbands And Kids And I’m Not Sorry

Every time I hear someone say that feminism is about validating every choice a woman makes I have to fight back vomit.

Do people really think that a stay at home mom is really on equal footing with a woman who works and takes care of herself? There’s no way those two things are the same. It’s hard for me to believe it’s not just verbally placating these people so they don’t get in trouble with the mommy bloggers.

Having kids and getting married are considered life milestones. We have baby showers and wedding parties as if it’s a huge accomplishment and cause for celebration to be able to get knocked up or find someone to walk down the aisle with. These aren’t accomplishments, they are actually super easy tasks, literally anyone can do them. They are the most common thing, ever, in the history of the world. They are, by definition, average. And here’s the thing, why on earth are we settling for average?

If women can do anything, why are we still content with applauding them for doing nothing?

I want to have a shower for a woman when she backpacks on her own through Asia, gets a promotion, or lands a dream job not when she stays inside the box and does the house and kids thing which is the path of least resistance. The dominate cultural voice will tell you these are things you can do with a husband and kids, but as I’ve written before, that’s a lie. It’s just not reality.

You will never have the time, energy, freedom or mobility to be exceptional if you have a husband and kids.

I hear women talk about how “hard” it is to raise kids and manage a household all the time. I never hear men talk about this. It’s because women secretly like to talk about how hard managing a household is so they don’t have to explain their lack of real accomplishments. Men don’t care to “manage a household.” They aren’t conditioned to think stupid things like that are “important.”

Women will be equal with men when we stop demanding that it be considered equally important to do housework and real work. They are not equal. Doing laundry will never be as important as being a doctor or an engineer or building a business. This word play is holding us back.

Sarah Palin isn’t exceptional? Notice the idea here is to eliminate one more “choice” for women, the choice to stay home and raise our children ourselves.
I tried to find a photo of her on the web, but couldn’t.
The more I think about this woman’s anti-traditional mom screed the more it sounds to me like she just got dumped by Prince Charming and all her hopes have been dashed, leading to this sour grapes reaction.

I actually heard men make the same kinds of statements about women who are stay at moms, so it isn’t just women who have these attitudes.

Don’t know this “Amy Glass” but what is the chance that she is a total root?

As Rush says, the NOW movement was not to promote women but rather to force ugly women upon the public at large whether they liked it or not. Oh, and lezbos too.

I'll put my money on a freshly-minted college-educated feminazi. Sadly, she'll probably wake up someday, at age 42, with a lot of regrets.

I haven’t read the thread, so this might be a repeat, but.... I’m thinking, if this soul-less human’s mother had been of the same mind, we’d have been spared her vapid ramblings.

Fantastic! What kind of business did you start? And you work from home?

Not that there are a lot of employers out there looking for a middle aged mom with a dusty finance degree and a gaping hole in her employment history.

Maybe not, but a lot of employers are looking for anybody who shows up for work, isn't on drugs, and doesn't steal. #1 son's experience in low-end retail has been quite an eye-opener for the whole family.

A woman who raises good kids will always have a bigger, better, longer lasting impact on the world than a woman who makes a job the center of her universe.

Especially when that job consists of nothing more than haranguing the women trying to raise kids.

And by “fantastic” - I am referring to your accomplishment.
I am very sorry for the circumstances you found yourself in.

“You will never have the time, energy, freedom or mobility to be exceptional if you have a husband and kids.”

But I'd be willing to bet she's all for gay marriage and for gays to adopt children.

Extra points if you have no facial tattoos or piercings ... unless you want to work at “Hot Topic.”

My Hubby’s stepmom was a career minded Lady - put everything she had into her work.
I remember the week she retired she seemed a little sad and said - 40 years of hard work, and within a couple of weeks ill be forgotten and it’ll be like I was never there!”

When it’s all said and done - we humans need love in our lives, and that is what we take with us when we leave this earth.

Twenty to one, this skank is the ultimate dog and normal men wouldn’t even consider asking her out. She’s so full of venom and self hatred, she should be pitied.

Not sure if the images on google search are her or not, but she’s [for the meantime] nice looking.

However, look at Steinem in her early years vs now.
That bitterness eats you up, and leaks out.

One of my mom’s closest friends, the wife of a retired Admiral, works at Colonial Williamsburg. She’s nearly 80 but doesn’t want to quit because it’s so much fun. And two of my church friends - one’s 50-ish and one’s maybe 70 - work at the county library.

Enjoy that bitter certainty, lady. I have a husband and a daughter I love.

You will never have the time, energy, freedom or mobility to be exceptional if you have a husband and kids.

I have the support and love I need to do what I want. If you think you need time, freedom, or mobility to become exceptional you will always find another excuse for why you can't achieve what you want.

I had a choice in my early twenties: get married, or get a ph.D. Only it was a no-brainer, doesn't even rate the word "choice". I don't have to fill my life with things like "backpacking across Asia" to make myself feel fulfilled, I've got a family for that.

Also, check out the correlation between “backpacking across Asia” and “rape.”
