In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senates immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...
Highlights from Article:
- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.
- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.
- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.
- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.
- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, The number of jobs in the United States is not static. Its fluid, which is how we want it to be.

I’m never gonna stop the rain by complaining.
Happy New Year to you and yours, and the entire UT membership as well. I love y’all too.
Thank you so much for lending me Fred the Insane. What a precious little sweetie!
Oh, for Heaven’s sake. Just tell her to get her drapes over to her room at once because I’m looking for her!
That should shake her loose.
Thanks for the digs.
Sionnsar bump!
Ooh!
Color change and louder buzzing rattles!
Welcome, bumpity bump.
He’s Fred. The CatEquivalent of three catz, because he’s Insane. We have 5 kittehs, but with the FTI unit it’s like 7. He’s very brainy, knows how to do stuff, and he’s big enough to open doors. But his mind seems to be set on “kitten” because he never uses his powers for good....
She finally showed up. Thanks for getting her back to me.
Um... I think...
Oooh! Pretty dragon, and thank you for the rose. My favorite.
He’s still a pretty cool dude.
Kerblacht in nesting mode.
Greeeeat.
Never jump off a cliff into a river worrying about whether you can swim.
The fall will probably kill you.
The coolest. He hangs out in the hallway, just to stymie the Daddoo, the biggest Ogre in the house.....
I would guess that the County workers are all home in their onesies, sipping hot chocolate, and talking about.. Oh wait, that was another thread..
So as of this moment movement into and out of our driveway can be accomplished without the need on my part to exert either muscle power with the manual solidified GW relocating device, or needing to create a meaningful relationship with my antique John Deere at some ungodly hour in the early AM before sane people are up..
” before sane people are up..”
That settles it, I’m up.
Great.
That is cute little bird.
Bandit stripe and baby bib, plus no doubt a sweet song.
Don’t worry about wrong posting...I UT style replied on a serious thread two days ago, it was insane enough to be ignored, luckily.
“varnish”
Come on...there is no way you can pick up my southern accent from wrtten text. XD.

“...Maria mows your lawn in her teddy.”
I’m listening...and mentally thumbing through my catalog of stuff for the last known whereabouts of my lawn chair...
So, tell us more about “Maria.”
