Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has won the 2013 Heisman Trophy.
Winston is only the second redshirt freshman to win the award after Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was handed the trophy as a redshirt freshman last year. Winston is the third player in school history to earn the distinction, following former Seminole QBs Charlie Ward ('93) and Chris Weinke ('00).

Well done Jameis! Now on to the BCS Championship game for some Tiger stew.
The rapist? Are you sure he won? How could that be?
I looked at the headline and thought McCarron won it. I believe he should have won it.
McCarron will playing in the NFL next year in Houston with Ms. Webb watching from the box seats.
Winston deserved to win. Hopefully Auburn wins and keeps the SEC streak alive.
Have faith. We all know that the SEC title game is the real national championship game, right?
Will Brent Musberger switch to the NFL so he can announce the games?
This trophy is meaningless when such a lowlife wins.
We are in deep trouble when such a pathological amoral creature wins !
Did his roommate try to enter the room to film it?
Oh, wait.
On a serious note, his on the field performance deserved it, but I am still surprised he won it given the controversy. Reading the documents online it sounds like it was pretty normal for the roommate to come in during the act for round 2? Disgusting.
I hope you’re right. Houston needs a QB. I never did understand Kubiak’s love affair with Schaub. Nor did I understand Mack Brown’s love affair with the McCoys or Houson Nutts’ love affair with the Dicks.
Manziel had 542 total yards against Auburn in a loss. It will be interesting to see what Winston gets.
It has been since 2006.
We all know that the SEC title game is the real national championship game, right?
I would normally agree, but FSU appears to be the real deal this season even if their opponents were not SEC quality. Given the Tigers pass defense and the defense of FSU, this may be the year the SEC gets dethroned. As much as it pains me to say it (Vol fan), I still think Bama was the better team and would win more than they lost on a neutral field. I still congratulate Auburn for the win and most teams need a bit of luck along the way.
I will be pulling for Auburn. The SEC is a dysfunctional family, but it’s still family.
Same for the Nobel Peace Prize
I have not kept up with the affair but the Panama City TV station had a fairly detailed report including the State’s attorney saying they were not going to prosecute.
It seemed to me they did have enough but then I don’t really know anything about such things. I do know that he was a sleazy character and sleazy characters should not win an award of the quality of the Heisman.
Yup - the rapist had 3 times as many points as his closest competitor:
Results 1. Winston (2,205), 2. AJ McCarron (704), 3. Jordan Lynch (558), 4. Andre Williams (470), 5. Johnny Manziel (421), 6. Tre Mason (404)
One wonders if this were a white athlete accused of raping a black girl (instead of the opposite) whether there would’ve been the same coverup.
Apparently "integrity" now means "not giving the DA enough evidence to be convicted of rape beyond a reasonable doubt."
“Could have been 1st had it not been for the psychopath and ambulance-chasing attorney trying to derail him.”
Now how exactly did that attorney get Winston’s DNA into her panties? And how did he get her to go have a rape kit done the day after the assault, before he even met her?
115 of 928 Heisman voters (12.4%) left Winston off the ballot.
668 voters (72%) had Winston in first place.
