Chicken In Popular Products May Soon Be Made In China

BOSTON (CBS) — As soon as next summer, nuggets and other popular chicken products could be made with chicken processed in China, all because of a recent change in regulations.

“Oh, it makes me a little nervous,” says mother of two, Katrina Lee.

China has a long history of serving up unsafe food, including the industrial chemical melamine that was deliberately put in pet food and infant formula. There were also cases of tainted rat meat passed off as lamb.

“To me it’s a big leap of faith for us to now have to accept that foods coming from china are going to be safe,” says Elizabeth Scott, a food safety expert at Simmons College.

Would you eat it?/

No! It's not US chicken once it leaves the US.

How does one know that it is the same chicken?

Doesn't matter. If it left the US to be processed by Chinese standards, it's not worthy of human consumption.

“Therefore it is US chicken”.

You need to make up your mind. LOL

If they don’t label the sources, I’ll stop buying anything that has preprocessed chicken in it.

Smart advertisers would start labeling their products as chicken grown and processed in the U.S.

There is no way to know it is the same chicken. There is no way to know it is chicken. I won’t touch pieces parts chicken now.
This stuff will have to be frozen twice before it is served here in any form. Ship it to Chine, thaw it out, process it into whatever it is supposed to be, freeze it again and ship it back to the states. What could go wrong?
Why would anyone trust their health care, or their children’s education to a group of bureaucrats this stupid?

“Well it is American chicken that they send to china for processing and then sent back to the US for eating. “

Unless they swap it for chinese chicken, and keep american chicken.

And, given they deliberately tainted foodstuffs sent to our shores before, you have absolute assurance it’s the *same* chicken that was sent there how?

We send them unpolluted chicken, they send us their polluted chicken in return.

Exactly.

It’s a pretty sorry state of affairs that we’d even send our chicken to China to process anyway.

“Well it is American chicken that they send to china for processing and then sent back to the US for eating. Therefore it is US chicken.”

Maybe. But that’s not even the real issue. Chicken raised and slaughtered in China is getting ready to flood the U.S.

Chicken could come from Timbuktu for all I care.

Chicken meat itself has no flavor any more because of how the birds are raised and what they're fed.

Which is why pieces of the fowl are always coated or drowned in something else to make it palatable.

I never buy the tasteless stuff and haven't for years.

American-based industry—American owned. But the chickens will come from China.

If ANY party would just stand up for Americans, we'd be in there back pocket...

lower taxes...less govt interference in daily life...protecting American jobs...fighting against the monopoly of Big Farma, as well as Big Pharma....

will anyone stand up for US?
