On Wednesdays edition of Comedy Centrals The Daily Show, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer faced off against left-leaning show anchor Jon Stewart on conservative ideology and the way it is presented.
In this rare appearance on Stewarts program, Krauthammer was promoting his new book, Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes, and Politics, and explained how in working on the book he realized when he had made the transformation from liberal to conservative.
STEWART: Thirty years do you ever look back on some of these writings and think, What was I thinking? KRAUTHAMMER: Its worse than that. The worst part of writing the book was going all the way back and reading the million words Id written. By the end of this process I was near suicidal. I couldnt believe I had written some of that stuff. STEWART: So, what has the growth process been like? KRAUTHAMMER: The growth process? Well, I was once a liberal. STEWART: So the early writings showed hope? KRAUTHAMMER: And then came change.

This like the 1956 NY Yankees (Mantle, Whitey, Yogi, Skowron etc.) going up against a Little League team.
Sour Kraut likes SS, Medicare and Medicaid and the New Deal. Which is why he’s part of the problem.
Krauthammer is a quisling token representative of the DC Media “token opposition.” Loyal, not too too vocal and always willing to condemn some conservatism for not having the sensibilities to factor in how “we must work together and appease.”
Screw him. He’s just hawking a book trying to prepare for his retirement and to solidify his “token conservative” place under a Hillary administration (so he thinks).
Take note conservatives, liberals need things explained to them clearly and without big words.
Stewarts whines about liberals not receiving enough credit for good intentions, citing Ted Cruz over and over.
On the other hand I wouldn't expect an ideologue of Stewart's political bent to expect the same from his president Barack Obama.
Krauthammer basically disowned Cruz.
Krauthammer is an H.W. Republican. He thinks you can slow the growth of entitlements with some kind of 30 year plan and we’ll be okay. The fact is we need radical cuts to the bloated government.
And what does he mean conservatives accept the ‘New Deal’? Most of us see the ND for what it was, a giant ponzi scheme, and only now do we realize we’re screwed.
What Stewart was saying was if only 'conservatives' like Krauthammer would say things like 'thank God for the wonderful liberals who gave us SSI & Medicare' and leave out the 'but we're going broke' part.
If you took a poll of FreeRepublic, I don’t think you’d get 30% support for cutting entitlement spending by a dollar.
Krauthammer is Conservative????????
Damn, how can you tell?
Screw Krauthammer and the Beltway “conservatives”. If Ted Cruz doesn’t speak for us, I guarantee Krauthammer doesn’t speak for my views.
Shouldn’t a conservative argue this?
I'd support it if the Fed was shut down, the big banks were broken up, the Federal Government forbade itself from picking winners and losers in capital and agriculture markets, the income tax was eliminated etc. You could really go on forever.
Never going to happen. It will all come crashing down of its own weight anyway. Then things are going to get really ugly. Why go after the least culpable groups. They're just trying to function in a country stripped of capital. They're only emulating the con game of the big shots.
QED
Couldn’t we find someone more conservative for these debates?
Seriously, "liberals", your "intentions" don't amount to SQUAT when the results are invariably increased and widespread human misery.

Krauthammer is a communist (technically “Trotskyite”) neocon. He loves the state, abortion and above all, perpetual war. The neocons split with the USSR 50 years ago. But, they are still communists under another name and they infiltrated the conservative movement for the past generation.
The idea that this statist monster is considered a conservative icon is nauseating. The movement is dead. The GOP is dead. If you have kids, prepare them to leave this Hellhole while they still can.
