President Obama -- under fire from Republicans and losing favor with his own party -- got a gushing review from House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, who raved the embattled commander-in-chief was a "brilliant" and "eloquent" strategist.
In an interview with Politico Thursday, the California lawmaker said GOP scorn was simple jealousy.
“You know why it is. You know why it is," she sputtered. “He’s brilliant, … he thinks in a strategic way in how to get something done … and he’s completely eloquent. That’s a package that they don’t like.”
The 26-year veteran likened the GOP vitriol to a snobbish distaste she claimed some Republicans had for President Clinton.
“They didn’t think he was one of them … because of his upbringing and his personal story of success," she charged " … Although he had the Ivy League and the Georgetown education, he wasn’t rooted where most of the former presidents came from.”
After a phone call with Republican Speaker John Boehner, Pelosi repeatedly said she had "no idea" whether he would depend on Democratic votes to avoid default or a government shutdown -- or if he had a plan that could pass with Republican votes alone.
She said what she does know is the GOP's initial plan to keep the government running past Sept. 30 — including the defunding Obamacare provision demanded by conservatives — won't fly with her caucus.

If enough people tell the Senate to go to hell, Obama will be left defending himself, and he will fold like a cheap suit just like he did on Syria.
Spare us the nonsense. Take away his teleprompter and he's a stumbling, stammering lightweight who can't string two coherent thoughts together on any moderately complex topic.

Gotta hand it to her. She IS a team member albeit so wrong, but what’s new, she’s a Democrat, and being wrong is just part of their psyche.
She’ll blow him on national TV if he would promise to dump millions into the races in 2014 to get her power back, but I think that isn’t happening.
This is a major weakness of the Democrat Party. They have too much unity, so they must defend their Party leaders no matter how foolish they sound. Obomba can show up drunk and spout a Jay-zee rap song during an interview on ObamaCare and Pelosi will declare it “brilliant.” I used to think a lack of GOP unity is a problem, but sometimes our independent thinking prevent us from acting like lemmings and blindly following our leader to jump off a cliff.
I might add at this point all the money in the world will not help them in 2014 because of Obamacare and a very perceived weak President.
I have a friend who thinks the same thing, and I tend to just avoid the subject. But recently I made reference to Obama just being incompetent in everything he does and to my surprise she said “I’m beginning to think you’re right”.
I think the NSA spying is really getting him too because that affects a “whole bunch of” libs and youth (Obama speak)
Although Boehner really hoped for lemmings when he and Cantor came up with the plan to simultaneously vote for and against Obamacare like it was some type of Schrödinger's legislation.
I'm just wondering if Pelosi will call up Putin and ask him to return "brilliant" Obama's pants.
