Same here. We're supposed to get a hard freeze tomorrow night. I'll make sure all the windows get closed. I don't mind getting up and finding it's in the 50s in the kitchen, but the 30s is a little much.

I try to give depth to whatever I draw, but I'm afraid I have my dad's light touch when it comes to density. He worked a lot with pastel colors (oil paints, not pastel chalks) and his paintings are unbelievably realistic.

But it's fun to color, once again. I usually did it with my glasses off, but now that I have one perfect eye and one imperfect one, it's hard to see just what works and what doesn't.

The leaves are already beginning to turn, here. We don't usually see much of that for another week, and it's been going on at least that long.

I just got confirmation today that my son and his son are coming for Thanksgiving. So I'm trying to get my daughter to provide her home for a dinner, since I don't have any room here. Maybe her youngest son will show up...

They haven't seen each other in 20 years or more! So it will be good. IF I can convince her it's a good thing...

Getting her to commit will be the big thing. But I’m sure once she does, she won’t regret it. She has three half-sibs, but Hockeybughow is the only full sib Lablady has. And they are only three years apart.

Their story is amazing. Remind me on my next visit and I will tell you the similarities with two kids who have totally different moms and dads...the adoption of my daughter was “meant to be!”

We have that in the summer. It’s called “virga.” It’s when rain falls but evaporates before it can hit the ground because of the heat from the desert. It can be seen from a bench if the clouds are out on the valley floor. You can see the clouds and the rain, but the rain disappears before it even gets close to the desert. Pretty cool!

We seem to be formulating a lot of plans for your next visit! It sounds like I need to start saving for another plane ticket. If Anoreth is going to sea again, as she implies, we won’t be going to Rome any time soon ... and anyway, OldTax-lady might get us tickets, or even go with us.
